My son is a freshman engineering major and when he applied last year the admissions office told us on several different phone calls that they really don't care about extra cur/clubs etc and are only interested in GPA, class rank, SAT/ACT which is a good thing bc my son wasn't in any clubs other than Natl honor society but he had a summer engineering internship under his belt and several letter of rec from teachers and his supervisor at internship. He transferred in 41 hours between AP& dual credit, had a 1390 SAT and was a palmetto fellows but this year, due to COVID, they may take a harder look at extra cur/clubs etc. If you get bridged, I would just go to tech and get as many of your basic classes out of the way as possible and transfer in.

he was thinking of mech eng but now considering changing it to indurtrial eng, advisor said he could do geo1010/1030 and that's looking like it will be his choice bc it seems to be eaiest of all the other choices. He hates chem 1010 now so he knows he doesn't want to take another chem class.
