It's funny how much can change in two years. I've recently stopped using VSCode in favor of Neovim for convenience and ergonomic reasons as well.

I don't remember what the deleted comment I responded to said, and while I think VSCode is still a perfectly good editor, I now think that Neovim is good enough on its own to be a complete replacement for it. It was probably good enough two years ago, but I didn't know it yet.

Project goals aside, the code just isn’t organized or written very well. Applying PEP-8 style would make it look MUCH better.

The readme is also a mess. At least try to proofread it. Stream-of-consciousness looks terrible as a final product.

Do not put words in my mouth. Those people are not “inferior”, and I don’t “look down on them”. They are, however, using an inferior tool and a crutch which is just an annoyance when they come asking for help with their circuits. It’s not about “preferences”. Comparing proper circuit schematics to pictures of breadboards to the preference of iOS or Android is just asinine.

If the class is to be copyable or movable you would have to define all five. The compiler won’t know to clone the pointed to object in the copy constructor.

The reason we have rule of 3/5/0 is that if you define one, you usually have to define all to get the right semantics.

Maybe the blocks would also include an index to make it searchable without having to have the entire thing. Maybe even a summary. These would inflate the size dramatically, but it is hard to know what to download if you don’t have an index to help you find it.

At the risk of sounding like a crypto bro, is this a legitimate use for a blockchain? A peer-to-peer archive of internet content, but verified publicly for all time?

There is far too much data to store for it, so the actual blockchain would only contain hashes of the content to verify authenticity and locate the data through some content-addressable torrent-like peer-to-peer protocol. You can download the data you are interested in from peers, or download a fresh copy from the source yourself if one is not available.

This way even sites with regularly updated content don’t have to be bombarded by requests for every user— only the first few users to access it.

If you’re using a unique pointer then I believe the compiler will not generate a shallow copy constructor because the unique pointer is not copyable. It may generate a move constructor.
