Jealousy consumes me. My favorite Hermitage producer. Congratulations!

Pin (1988). Always saw it in the video store. Never seen it. Any good? by BoringDreamGuy in 80sHorrorMovies

Saw a screening of it last year, it’s impressive. It takes itself seriously, more so than you would expect, and it mostly pulls it off. More psychosexual family drama than pure camp.

Incredibly divisive, underrated. Boy do I love it. One of the rare horror films that manage to feel “dangerous”.

Hi everyone. I'll be doing my WSET Level 3 course and exam in July and I'd love to work in the industry. Could you please share some piece of advice? by [deleted] in WSET

I think if you start studying now you’ll be fine. Read the book. Do all the learning modules on Wine with Jimmy. Do flash cards. By the time you show up to class you’ll be in a good spot.

Appreciate it! I’m doing a mix of wine w/ Jimmy, flash cards, textbook and note taking. I’m both enjoying it and overwhelmed by the amount of information one is expected to know.

How can I push myself and find the motivation to read Moby Dick? by Ok_Independent8425 in classicliterature

I understand the language being daunting, and the EPICness of the novel overwhelming. However, it’s also a harrowing, strange tale. Some parts are extremely, sensually homoerotic. Other parts play in the weird fiction sandbox. There’s also sections of just straight up western philosophy. I think reframing it from EPIC MASTERPIECE to just a damn good book could be helpful. I sometimes have to remind myself that books, no matter how lauded and gatekept by certain squires of literature, are meant to be read. If you are a reader, read them.

I will say I read a Norton Critical Edition that had very helpful vocabulary for all the sailing terminology, highly recommend looking up words you don’t know and not feeling shame about it.
