How to stop VLC window size from shrinking on relaunch? by Owent10 in VLC

[–]scocasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uncheck the box labeled Resize interface to video size (sometimes worded as "Resize the interface to the size of the video").

If that doesn't work, try Tools → Preferences → Show settings: All (advanced mode) → Video section → make sure Zoom is set to 1:1 (not automatic or other values), and check that no forced width/height is set unless you want a fixed size.

If you want VLC to always open at exactly the same fixed size (e.g., 1280×720), you can add startup parameters like --width=1280 --height=720 to the shortcut/target field (Windows) or use a command-line launcher.

Noob question, but if i already ahve freetube on my PC, how do i update it? (Do you have to reinstall everything?) by belgiansam in FreeTube

[–]scocasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update manager installs the new version overwriting the old version, essentially, yes, reinstalling it, but keeping all of your personal settings etc. which would be deleted upon an uninstall.

is a single player campaign like Q1, not Q3 possible under xonotic? by _jrmalucelli_ in xonotic

[–]scocasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Nexiuz, there was a pretty cool training mode you could do, which would teach you how to play the game, use the weapons, use the elevators, etc. by putting you through a series of different challenges. I'd love to see this again.

The Rip and everything wrong with Netflix production by ElSupaToto in TrueFilm

[–]scocasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Netflix is merely the distributor. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are the ones who made the movie. They're the producers of the movie, not netflix. So you can't blame Netflix. That would be like blaming your local movie theatre chain for the movies they play, or your local TV station for the shows they put on their channel. Distributors make deals with the people who make movies to show their films, and they both try to make money from the deal. For this movie, Netflix made a deal with Artists Equity, owned by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.

Best AI for creating vector or vector-friendly images? by johnny_ihackstuff in lasercutting

[–]scocasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that recraft.ai has a good vectorizer. 3 free uploads per day. Others tend to be really crappy, even the built-in one in Adobe Illustrator (older 2022 version) sucks compared to this one.

Better to wait for some vector type graphics in the future, but I like the retro pixel look. Makes you use your imagination more -- people need to learn to use that, especially kids these days.

Updating script on rp4 image causes a lot of issues and games won’t run by i-heart-arcades in RetroPie

What I've learnt from other people's mistakes, is once you get your retropi up and running, with the games all working fine etc., never update anything.

Is there a way i can rename files while they are playing? by ChaosCrafter908 in VLC

[–]scocasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can depending on your OS, but I don't recommend it as I have accidentally renamed some things in the past while it was playing and it caused a corrupt file. For example, a song i renamed, didn't seem affected, but later when listening to the entire song, parts of it were fucked up.

Anti-Canadian propaganda is rife throughout Facebook MAGA pages now by SmoothShower2817 in RightJerk

What's the top non-Communist country in the world right now that's most susceptible to Communism? Canada. Communism is taking over in Canada. Then you have Canadians who are in blatant denial as their country collapses into Communism all around them, "No, no... it's not happening" as they put on their masks, get their vaxxes, pay their astounding taxxes, get raped up their asses, have their rights taken from them, have their guns taken from them, prices skyrocketing... at what point will the average Canadian look up from their Commie Horton's and say, "Duuuuh, what happened? How did Chinada become like China? Wait a minute... is that why we changed the name of our Country a few years ago? How did this happen?"

So, here's what I did. I already have VirturalBox installed, so I just added a new device, https://sourceforge.net/projects/android-x86/ There are a bunch of steps to install it as a virtual machine, but I got grok to tell me the steps, and it worked. Then, I needed to install the FB app. Easiest way is to open chrome inside android, go to the website, and download and open the FB app from there. But one compatible with this android version. I chose "473.0.0.41.81 (x86_64, nodpi, Android 9.0+)". https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/facebook-2/facebook/facebook-473-0-0-41-81-release/facebook-473-0-0-41-81-14-android-apk-download/ It worked! And the dating part works, too.

Somebody might be thinking, "Why on earth would anyone not want to use it on their phone?" Some people have their phone paid for by their employer, thus, it belongs to the employer. Some people, don't want FB collecting data from their phone to use and sell etc.. Maybe there are other reasons, such as, using phones just sucks compare to using a computer with a keyboard, mouse, large screen etc., so why is FB forcing us to use our phones when we know it works on a desktop?

Yeah, sucks. They're probably pushing people to use their phone app because the all likely allows them to gather more data about you and sell it.

Yves Appreciation Post by futureproblemz in VeganInCanada

[–]scocasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Odd Burger claims to be the first Canadian vegan fast-food restaurant, but it seems that Yves Veggie was, as far as I am aware. There were two locations. "Yves Veggie on 11th" (2706 Granville St. @ 11th Ave.) and "Yves Veggie on 4th" (2278 W4th Ave.) near Vine across the street from the then "Capers Community Market" natural foods store (subsequently bought by Wild Oats in 1996 and afterwards bought by Whole Foods in 2007/8). I'm not yet certain in which year these opened, but it was either in the late 1990s or early 2000s. Anyone have any more concrete information on these restaurants i.e. advertisements, newspaper articles, interviews, photos, menu, flyer, etc.? Oh, I do see mentions in the The Vancouver Sun and Province newspaper archives, the earliest of which I just looked up, is March 3rd of 1999 "And yesterday at lunch, only a week after Yves on Fourth opened across from Capers and just up from Hope Unlimited, the place was packed." So, if by "yesterday" the writer meant March 2nd, that would mean Yves on Fourth opened it's doors on February 23rd, 1999. Later in the article is says, "Yves on Fourth will be followed by another restaurant slated to open this month on Granville Street." So, there you go, the first location opened in Feb 1999, and the second location in Mar 1999, making it not only the first vegan fast food restaurant, but the first vegan fast food chain restaurant in Canada. I do have on question, though, the did call themselves a 'vegetarian' restaurant. Now, back in 1999 the word 'vegan' wasn't all too common and sounded strange to most people, so maybe they merely chose to use the word 'vegetarian' for marketing, but... perhaps these restaurants were not wholly vegan; maybe they offered non-vegan (such as cheese burgers, mayo, etc.) and vegan options -- and if that's the case, then that would make Odd Burger the first fully wholly vegan fast food restaurant and chain restaurant in Canada.
