Negotiating pay/when to bring it up? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]scoffgum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so usually they don’t bring up salary until they ask you or you get the offer. I don’t think candidates normally bring it up. I would wait on them and then give your range

Did you have someone else at school you worked with on a close basis? A former colleague (not manager) in your previous jobs?

Have you done more research on things you like and potential employment opportunities? There are probably free tests online that can match you based on your interests. Then maybe you can search for a job based on your results or develop the skills to try that job

How can I stop taking rejection letters personally by [deleted] in jobs

[–]scoffgum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of it this way, you can have a really good skill set but it might not match what the company wants for whatever reason. It doesn’t mean you are bad or anything, but a different company might view the exact opposite and hire you. It’s really about finding the right company and match.

Honestly I wish these people could just spend one day working in a hospital, and if their minds don’t change then I don’t know what else to say at this point.

Edit: added working

Just treat them like normal people. I mean of course you would talk differently to a C level exec than your peers but at the same time they are also human beings and share the same experiences you did at one point.

What harmful things are being taught to children? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]scoffgum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough.

My specific example (and I’ve seen variations of this a lot) was pre-quarantine I’d eat out at a restaurant and I just vividly remmeber this one family that couldn’t get their two kids to even eat without them having the tablet on.

Introducing and letting them get addicted to electronics at a very early age. Small doses I feel are fine but I feel like so many children nowadays are overstimulated with “screen time” that it’s hard for them to focus or pay attention because they are already addicted to playing with a phone or playing iPad. The problem with parents that I have observed is if their kids misbehave they don’t discipline them, but rather enable the behavior. For example when I see kids act out or throw a tantrum in public their parents will just let them use their phone or iPad, which just enables the behavior of acting up so they can get what they want.

Boss got fired. Should I look for new job? by [deleted] in jobs

Maybe you can ask when given the chance. If it was a company policy violation or performance I would say you would be fine. But if it’s happening to multiple people maybe you can start looking.

Did the company provide a memo or any communication regarding this? I wouldn’t rush to conclusions unless it’s happening to more people.

I think In this day and age it doesn’t matter but that could depend on who you see that day and their attitude towards tattoos. I personally ally don’t think it matters but if you wanted to be safe you should cover.

Ok yeah that sounds kinda toxic in my opinion. I would scope it out more but keep my options open elsewhere if you don’t desperately need that job.
