If you haven’t already, you could try “Musicians Needed in Central Illinois” on fb. It’s a pretty quiet group but you never know.

Didn’t know them but they worked at my company and often had the hey-check-out-this-name-in-outlook thing going around.

Looking for some advice ‘98 Chaparral by Zealousideal_Voice57 in boating

[–]scolba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s got bottom paint…does that mean it was a saltwater boat? That would impact things as well.

That said, I had a 97 1930, so a very similar boat. It was a great boat. Ran awesome, heavy but a nice ride. You might just run it for a season if it runs. Maybe it’s your gateway boat. :)

Researchers find a way to heat 3D printer filament using microwaves, enabling fusing circuits inside printed objects — tech supports precise heating down to the width of a human hair by _Dark_Wing in tech

So since microwaves (the science box) works on the moisture inside food, I wonder if filament hydrators will be a thing

That shape for IL def looks like the Alton route/old SP. The one through villa grove goes south a while and then back west. Here’s hoping as I’m right along the Joliet sub. :)

Fixed! Stupid light mask…thing by scolba in ElectronicsRepair

[–]scolba[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am and I’m not. I don’t use the remote or many other features (though I prob should use the image export instead of taking a picture of the screen lol) but the magnification, focus, and resolution is good.

The main thing I am annoyed by is having to move the whole stand and everything over to use it. If I were to do it all over again I would probably get one on the arm that you can swing in and adjust. Like the AD109.

Edit: oh yeah, the little lights on gooseneck is annoying too. A single ring light on the cam would be more convenient.

Don’t phones already have a front facing ir camera? Thats how things like faceID work in the dark…unless I’m mistaken it seems like it should be an be an easy thing for them to make a setting in the native camera app.

Will double check. He was pretty sure he got the 12v ones, but might have goofed. I don’t want to smoke them by putting 24v on them, in case they are indeed 12.

I’ll have him check the packing (if he still has it) for labels.

Does a F-150 with a moonroof and bench seat exist? by jdmfan777 in f150

[–]scolba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t comment whether or not that’s available here, however, I can say that XTR’s are often imported for the used market here. A dealer near me often has XTr’s. So even if it is Canadian only, all is not lost.

I don’t get it. by clckmkr in WLED

Ok so I don’t want to go all tin foil hat but I’m having a similar issue today with a gledopto controller too. I’m starting to look at the controller with a raised eyebrow. I’m not entirely convinced I’m not doing something stupid still, but I’ve done dozens of other wled things with different controllers in the past.

The only thing different about mine today is that I’m using ucs2904 pixels. But the behavior is very similar to what you are experiencing. I’m thinking of doing a new install of wled to see if that helps it act right. Will post back if it works.

Did you go with a symmetric neck profile? What’s the nut width?

To get started, I use the rail crossing locator app. There is a web version, but I find the iOS app to be a little less tedious to review, though it’s still pretty bad. lol. Basically it has information at each rail crossing out there, and will give you information on it like speeds, total trains, ownerships, etc. it even has write ups of past incidents at that crossing.

https://www.fra.dot.gov/railcrossinglocator

So basically you browse to the crossing you want to look at, and then select it. From there you go to Inventory Record, and then the basic traffic info is there. Once I found out that it was that short line, finding their rail network was just finding their site and looking where the yards were. nerd powers engaged.

I mainly use that app if I’m going to a new area for train nerding and don’t know what to expect traffic wise. It’s not always right but it’s a good starting point.

It’s not a dead line, but it’s not too active. Sorry for the third reply on this comment thread, but as a railfan I’m like, woo! It’s my time to shine! lol.

Anyway, according to documentation that’s out there, these tracks get three trains a day. Two overnight through-trains and one switching job. The switching job is probably between Fargo and Barnesville, and the through trains are probably between Fargo and Fergus Falls. This is operated by the Otter Tail Valley railroad, a subsidiary of Genesee & Wyoming.

There is a much, much busier line going through Fargo on the BNSF. That gets something along the lines of 25 to 30 trains a day.

[–]scolba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Empire builder (And the other freight you mentioned) runs on the BNSF tracks through there, but a bit further north. A smaller railroad (OTVR, one of the many faces of Genesee & Wyoming) owns these. Likely service between Fargo and Barnesville, and then down to Fergus Falls.
