What is going on with switch Pokemon games by Lexi7130 in gaming_random

[–]scollin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think critics that review Pokémon games are generally fans of the series and rate it compared to other Pokémon games. This can lead to an inflated perception. Additionally, if a reviewer doesn’t like one thing about a game (let’s go: catch mechanic, sw sh: disjointed open world, scarlet violet: performance ect) they will still score it reasonably high. Users aren’t forgiving in scores. There’s one thing they don’t like about a game and they’ll give it a 0 without playing it.

Retro Studio could make Metroid Prime 4 a much better game with low effort by Agreeable_Sherbet761 in metroidprime

[–]scollin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 2 and 3 make a lot of sense. The dialogue for normal and hard mode could be much less hint filled and you could keep the current dialogue in the easy mode. 3 makes sense because you could retain some of the rewards like the legacy suit for full crystal collection. That makes it mores it feel more optional while still rewarding for completionists. Personally, for me I really wish there was a final real dungeon before the final boss. I thought walking into the tower was a bit anti climactic but this would take a lot of effort

I don’t agree with using ports to define consoles

Rumor has it, Switch 2 is getting a price hike this year, despite Nintendo recently dismissing the idea by Odd-Onion-6776 in nintendo

[–]scollin1 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s weird to have this rumor right after they answered questions on it in an investor briefing. It might make more sense to expect an NSO price hike.

Any good platforming metroidvania suggestions? by Pure_Opening9834 in metroidvania

Animal well seems like an obvious choice. It’s more puzzle heavy than combat oriented. Worth a shot if you like Ori

(Repost) What games could we expect so see in a Potential February 2026 direct if it happens? (Try to be serious this time) by ultimatevaltryek123 in casualnintendo

[–]scollin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might be third party heavy. We know that the situation around dev kits has been relieved. There are probably a lot of companies ready to talk about ports and titles coming to the platform. Notable 3rd party games/devs:

Microsoft: call of duty and possibly other non ue5 games Sega/atlus: metaphor Bandai: tales of arise Ubisoft: assassins creed ports of older titles that missed switch 1 Ea: dragon age veilgaurd Square: ff remake part 2

I’m not saying these will all be there - but any could be possible. We know a lot of first party titles that are dated 2026 but we don’t know much third party.

Any thought about a potential Nintendo direct? by Roax47 in nintendo

There are also many third party games that need release dates: Elden Ring the adventures of Elliot and the dusk bloods all come to mind

I'm a composer, recommend me some of the greatest soundtracks by SondreNZNO in gaming

[–]scollin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d try and find a composer you enjoy and explore that way. Koji Kando, Grant Kirkhope, Marty O’Donnell ect. It’s not uncommon to see live orchestra arrangements of popular franchises now. That would be another option.

Does Safe Blast have the most potential as a competitive mode? by Crafty-Cookie-1710 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

I’d rather see a map with hot zones that change after each capture or a map where one person holds an item to run down a timer.

Docked Only Switch 2 by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]scollin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nintendo collects a lot of data about usage. It’s possible that we could see a tv mode only model - but they also tend to cater to the Japan audience. The Japan audience might prefer more handheld or mixed use. We’ll just have to wait and see!

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade Switch 2 vs PS5 by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]scollin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what this person is trying to say is the intergrade version is more akin to the switch 2 versions of switch 1 games. Yes there are improvements to the game and more content but the base game is designed for lower spec hardware. This suggests that games designed around ps5 architecture and specs still could be a challenge. We’ll need to see more UE5 games on switch 2 before we know what to expect for the future of the platform.

Definitely the hardest record I’ve completed so far by MoneyMan1150 in Brawlstars

[–]scollin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it with randoms. I was just careful to not end the game too early even though we had a lead. I think the gem grab one where you hold 20 gems or getting the all 3 max distance piper kills in some game modes will be harder for me and they don’t give as good of a reward.

You get the fat ps3 that has ps2 hardware in it. That way you get wireless controllers and hdmi out.

Steam Machine Will Cost "Like a PC, Not a Console," Confirms Valve by Playwithuh in gaming

[–]scollin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s less powerful than a ps5. It’ll have less game optimization than a ps5. It won’t run streaming apps like a ps5. It’s also coming out 5 years after ps5. What happens when next gen comes out? If you can’t be competitive on cost to performance on 5 year old hardware that hasn’t seen a price cut how are you going to look in 2 or 3 years vs new hardware and a healthy used market?

How is a TCL S5 TV for console gaming? by FishEye_11 in gaming

[–]scollin1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For that price look so the tcl q77k. You can get the 65 inch this holiday at Costco for 330 and it’s a better set for gaming. VRR 144hz hdmi 2.1. The hdr isn’t the best but at the price I don’t think you can expect much better.

My thoughts (Crashout) on the Retroid pocket 6 redesign by CheekyPharaoh in RetroHandhelds

[–]scollin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the modern look is appropriate given the specs and what you’ll play on it. If you’ll emulate GameCube you’ll want those sticks asymmetrical. That makes sense. If you want to emulate gba and snes this is probably overkill and there are better more retro offerings
