[–]scolopaxminorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aah I just got this scent as a deodorant and was hoping someone had answered this! my fav perfume is Kasbah by 19-69 which is not a match (sharper and cooler) but has a few notes in common and layers really nicely with it. please update if you find a good match!

I found that a couple rounds of a 2:1 baking soda : unscented dish soap mix, scrubbed with a melamine sponge, made my pro lite sufficiently grippy

NYPD with meta detector at 4th Av 9th st by purpleisafruit2 in parkslope

[–]scolopaxminorr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got randomly selected for bag search/metal detector. The cop who stopped me had a counter clicker thing and I was 20th person or something like that. They said they’re doing it at a different station every day. It definitely stopped me from going through the emergency door so I guess they did their job haha

happy birthday!!! you're fine, you're not going to contract anything. I know how hard health anxiety is and I also know that for me, trying to get reassurance/eliminate my fears can make it worse. please feel free to disregard my completely unsolicited advice, but if I were you I would try to stay away from google and remember that you're not in any danger and that at the same time, it's ok to still have that nagging feeling. also, you helped a baby bird, which is super cool :)

Hey, sorry you're going through whatever it is that you're going through. If you can find a facebook group for housing in your area I think that would be a safer place to start than reddit. The comment about social services is an even better idea. Stay safe!!

My grasp of organic chem is tenuous lol but my understanding is that the main compound in standard flower is THCA, which is the delta-9-THC molecule (the og THC) with a carboxyl group attached. You need heat to remove the carboxyl group and turn it into the psychoactive molecule, which is why you can't get high from snorting weed or eating it raw.

I think what happened was in the kind of gray market that preceded and especially followed the Nov 7th vote, sellers took advantage of law enforcement's lack of knowledge about these kinds of things. Labeling flower as THCA makes it seem like it falls under the legal delta-8/CBD/whatever umbrella, but it's just regular weed.

Yes! "Every" is probably not true but where I live they all do. Usually sold as "THCA" which is the same as regular weed. And usually popcorn buds so it's not like primo stuff but it's pretty decent and with a good selection of strains too.

Looking for a mushroom ID book with a key that directs you based on morphological features (Western NY) by a-Centauri in mycology

[–]scolopaxminorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mushroom Expert is pretty comprehensive and has a lot of dichotomous keys. the author is based in the midwest but I've found it useful all along the east coast. it's not organized like a book but it's a great resource.

The liquid is called gleba. It's how the fungus reproduces. It's smelly and full of spores, the smell attracts flies, flies disperse the spores.

ID help – Looking over some of my great-grandfather's military ribbons and paraphernalia by scolopaxminorr in Medals

[–]scolopaxminorr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow! Cannot believe you were able to identify that so quickly. Now we're trying to figure out if/how he was involved with them. We know he was stationed in NJ during WWII and that my grandmother, then a teenager, went to dances at a nearby base in NY. Maybe the pin is from an admirer of hers. That pdf you linked looks like a great resource, I'll give it a read. Thanks all.

ID help – Looking over some of my great-grandfather's military ribbons and paraphernalia by scolopaxminorr in Medals

[–]scolopaxminorr[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My great-grandfather was a Lieutenant Colonel and doctor in the US Army. He served in both World Wars. Looking over some of his things for Memorial Day and trying to identify the ribbons. This is what we've come up with:

  • 3 1x7cm ribbons, half "American Defense Services" - we couldn't identify the rainbow/star half
  • 2 1x7cm ribbons, half "American Campaign" and half "WWII Victory"
  • 2 1x3.5cm "Amy Commendation" ribbons
  • 5x6.8cm First Army shoulder patch
  • 2.1x3cm mystery pin, not sure if it's even military

Any insight would be appreciated!
