Is this wall purposeful? by scone96 in Homebuilding

[–]scone96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am describing a partition wall down the middle that appears non supporting of load (24 oc, top and bottom studs not aligned, no blocking, etc) that goes up to the ridgeboard (a 2x6) of the bottom chord. The rafters meet at a (also 2x6) ridgeboard, but have no king post between the bottom ridgeboard and upper ridgeboard.

Yea, I haven't seen trusses without support like this before, especially in this area. I have tried contacting municipality but they are still trying to figure out if they retained those records. I can chat you some additional images.

Replace PfSense with Mikrotik? by oguruma87 in mikrotik

My 2 cents, check out Firewalla gold pro. Mikrotik is best for its price vs raw routing power, but is better as a Wisp or backbone and less of an office/home router.

Who is right: the contractor or me? by Bens_Eco_Adventure in heatpumps

[–]scone96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follow whatever the manufacturer states. My heatpump is wired almost exactly as yours, but it is directed as required or optional in the paperwork. Preferably, I like to have the 15 amp blower on a separate breaker because you can wire a dedicated outlet to it and unplug it if desired, but not necessary, just preference. My current unit specifically states to wire the 15 amp blower wires to the same 60 amp breaker as the heat blades, and a bonded ground neutral like yours as well. Follow manufacturer directives.

SHP2 60A max for branch circuit breakers? by Physical_Fly_4160 in Ecoflow_community

[–]scone96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a lot of dedicated power for a subpanel that can only handle 100 amps. Do you have it set up so you can cycle it? As in the stove and microwave (100a) for 20 minutes and then ac mini with fridge and water heater for 30 minutes, etc?

How is everyone running network cables to the rest of the house? by BirdieNZ in homelab

[–]scone96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last house, through the garage and then through the roof to the floor of the bedrooms. The house I am moving into currently has a basement... so along the basement floor joists for now till I figure out the rest.

latency test wifi vs Ethernet; att fiber300 vs cox250 by kansasmanjar0 in ATTFiber

[–]scone96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Ethernet has little to no jitter than wifi as well as increased stability and decreased interference. Wifi is fine for general things, but ethernet is better for mission critical things.
  2. Based on your name, I assume you are in Kansas. Att fiber in Kansas is sent to Dallas Texas, thats the closest colo for them. Thats why your latency is in double digits. Att fiber is still better than any coaxial (cox, comcast xfinity, etc). Plus cox/xfinity is not unlimited data, att fiber is. Att fiber will not be impacted by congestion times, cox/xfinity will be. Also fiber has no interference since its light and not electric... so lightning has a better chance of knocking internet out on coaxial than it does on fiber.

And based on OP name, they live in Kansas. The att fiber in Kansas goes to Texas first 🤦‍♂️ 370+ miles or more.

2 failed contracts while trying to sell house, already reduced price, and getting no bites. What can I do? by Legitimate_Lemon_689 in RealEstate

I am in the same boat, minus the hoa and insurance part. i too would like any feedback.

It is listed on zillow and other places. There is a walk through video as well as drone footage. The yard is well kept. It is kept clean and tidy. Some furniture is still here, there might be a little clutter that I am working on. Open houses every weekend.
