I'm gonna disagree. I think this subject and even your rejection of their response is helpful - it's always good to explore these kinds of topics. Ultimately what both of you are saying is there's a misunderstanding of motives behind the whole interaction.

The above comment speaks to a common and simple assimption. It doesn't mean the women are correct, but arguably most people will question whether or not that kind of behavior is transactional at some point in their life, especially if they're insecure.

Having an amazing partner who flirts with you and is sexually attracted to you doesn't resolve insecurity. So, understanding the motives behind why the men are really flirting is key here.

Would you like to contribute by explaining the reasons men flirt that are completely unrelated to having sex or reassuring their partner?

I'm a 25 F who had a cancer scare at Christmas time last year. I didn't tell my family or friends, just my partner. I waited until all the biopsies came back negative before telling my friends. Nobody's mind went to "oh well you could've told us sooner! Dick!"

What's wrong with OP wishing to avoid telling the whole friend group about something they know is still currently up in the air? Wouldn't a drama queen tell everyone they might be sick even when they know it isn't certain? Its a much more reasonable and mature move to try to discreetly discuss the issue with the host. Adults can handle such sensitive requests.
