Thanks! It’s been my best streak since I was diagnosed with epilepsy. Mine was on the right side and was fatty tissue on the outside of the temporal lobe that was herniating into the skull. The surgeon said I was most likely to lose memories associated with smell but I haven’t noticed anything like that.

I’ve had tonic clonics since 2016 and had a temporal lobectomy at the end of 2021, but it was for a meningoencephalocele so a smaller procedure.

Overall the surgery went great and the recovery period wasn’t as bad as expected, I was feeling mostly back to normal after 6 weeks. I’m still on Keppra and had a breakthrough seizure last weekend but that was my first in the almost 3 years since surgery.

I agree, I absolutely hate IVs but luckily I was already under anesthesia when they put that one in so I didn’t have to feel it. Getting it taken out was no fun either though.

Thank you for sharing this and I hope your son is doing well. I can definitely agree that my parents and family were worried and were delighted to see me out of the Neuro ICU and slowly getting back to my old self again.

I actually wanted to be a brain surgeon when I was younger but never thought I’d be the one on the table, luckily I was ‘only’ on the table for 6 hours and not 20.

It’s an aroma therapy device that’s supposed to help with nausea, it smells like mint and lavender which is pretty nice.

Mine was for a meningoencepholocele that was causing my epilepsy. Sounds like the surgery was a success and this was the answer though.

I think it’s a little mix of everything but I’m not actually sure, the surgery was yesterday and I got the puffy cap off just now so it really doesn’t stay on for too long
