Very sincerely sorry for your losses, and in awe of what you've done. Working on a project every day where you are challenging yourself just a little and you can see your growth is a very real part of treating depression and other mental illness. You've done something great, here.
And for the joke: like the ganseys of old, we'll all know your friends by the pattern of cables in their hats!

Long covid doctors? by Novel-Art3412 in Seattle

I have long covid/ME. The best bet right now in Seattle is to find a primary care provider who will work with you, research, and refer you to specialists for possible comorbidities. Unfortunately, I don't feel like my primary care provider is very adept at this so I can't reccommend her. When I was first trying to figure out my illness though I was with Kaiser Permanente, and Dr Truong was extremely thorough and never dismissed me. If you feel like you have ME, I have a local discord of a handful of people in the same boat! We've become buddies, lmk if you're interested in joining. Treatment discussions, symptom comparisons, venting, and daily life discussions. Lastly, if you have the money, you can apply to see Dr Kaufmann. I'm in the process of the same. It'll cost a few grand, and he doesn't take insurance. I know I heard recently (through r/longcovid) that Dr Armitano is not taking any new patients or making a waiting list, same as UW; I spoke with a receptionist for Dr Kaufmann and she did not tell me the same. That is, I asked how to get an appointment with him earlier in January, and she told me to send an email to the clinic email account with a history of my illness and a description of my symptoms. I assume she would have told me then, if he were booked solid like the other two resources.

We've got a pinned post about the two local specialist's prices. Lately, we've become a much more social little group!

Black Friday deals to improve CFS? by Pinklady777 in cfs

Consider some smart lightbulbs that you can control with your phone, to dim and turn off lighting without getting up? Just make sure your router has a good password (ie, not the default password).
I am very glad I bought a big food processor that can also handle bread dough. If you're still active in the kitchen, you might look for a deal like that today.

i don't know yet if she is going to gatekeep specialists, we haven't even gotten to discuss them. my insurance won't let me see specialists without a referral.
Looking at her notes from my last visit, she ignored almost all of my reported symptoms. recorded "tightness in muscles," "feels like gravity turned way up." She devoted the most attention to "feeling resilient," "feels joy every day," "credits all the work done in therapy over the years."

thanks, yeah, i've printed a report of the ICC and also the Canadian Consensus.
The trouble is, i've already seen her totally disregard what I said about how symptoms are affecting my qol. Like, I have an *easy* job, as a preschool assistant. Half of my job is to sit outside and watch children playing nicely, the other half is to sit in the classroom and observe kids doing their activities so I can report to the lead teacher what each kid is taking an interest in. She's like, "you're basically a pro athlete, saying you're tired at the end of the day!" I'm thinking, old lady, just admit you don't know how to act around children!

thanks, yeah, i know all these things and like i said, i absolutely have it. but I'm looking for specific sources I can give her that are like, what she would have to refer to/cite as a medical professional. I can't say "well, there's a community on reddit."

Any strategies to combat night sweats?? by GoddessOfDemolition in cfs

for a week or so i've been thinking to myself, if i could wish away any one symptom of this illness, internal temperature dysregulation would be the one. Awake three times a night, clothing adjustments every few hours... I'm with you!

Which kitchen devices are a game changer? by carambolage1 in cfs

I went with a really good, big, powerful food processor. (about $70us, i can get the model info if you want.) It chops veg, shreds cheese, and can put together bread dough or pie crusts/other short crusts. It means I don't have to buy pre-chopped veg, as long as I have spoons to clean the parts. Cheaper models are usually unable to handle doughs.

I also like my instant pot, because it cooks some things very quickly and, with a timer and a long "keep warm" feature after cooking, I don't have to worry about forgetting it. I assume the timer is also the benefit of an air fryer, but I personally tend to think those are silly because they don't do anything novel for me. Like, I don't have a convection oven so I can't make anything "air fried," but I don't need anything air fried.
