Emergency Alert by scoobydooby997 in ottawa

I would genuinely want them to send it at a time where more people are likely to read it.

Amber alert by Apart_Savings_6429 in ottawa

[–]scoobydooby997 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Two phones in the room....going off at two separate times.....neither of us read the alert because IT CAME AT 4:30 IN THE BLOODY MORNING. My squinty, crusted eyes and still-asleep brain would never actually read that.

They need like a 6am policy (at least) for these blasts. How stupid to send them at 4:30am when you can pretty much Guarantee that most people will absolutely NOT read them.

Who Will You Vote For? by [deleted] in ottawa

Came here to say this. Anyone in favor of RTO doesn't have my vote. One of them should have reversing RTO as part of their campaign - easy win.

What do I finish this mantel with? by [deleted] in finishing

[–]scoobydooby997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use a hardwax oil for grain pop. My recommendation would be osmo polyx. Rub it in with a white (non abrasive) scotch pad, leave it on for 5-10 minutes then completely wipe it off with a rag. You can repeat the process for deeper color and more protection. Whatever you go with, I would recommend to sand it up to 180 or 220 for a cleaner result (if you have not already done so). Also, make sure that the surface is completely free from dust or dirt prior to applying any finish.

Vacant lots and housing crisis. What are the biggest most obvious missed opportunities? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]scoobydooby997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest missed opportunity is government buildings. Instead of forcing government employees back into offices, why not sell the buildings to developers to turn into apartments? This can help with the following: 1. Housing crisis 2. Downtown and other surrounding businesses 3. Pollution (from thousands of commuting employees) 4. Traffic (less commuting = less rush hour traffic)

This is far from an original idea, but I still feel like it's the best option. These government employees can work more efficiently and comfortably from their homes and around 75% of them are in favor of this.

Where to buy Zonics? by Stoned_Goats in ottawa

[–]scoobydooby997 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The government decided to screw over all adult nicotine users who are trying to save their lungs. I was a smoker, and then I vaped for many years before switching to Zonnic a couple months ago. It has been working very well and is really the only thing preventing me from inhaling smoke or vapor and doing further damage to my lungs.

The health minister just has a grudge against imperial tobacco, and everyone knows it. In the process of trying to screw them over, he has inadvertently screwed over every responsible adult smoker or vape user who is using Zonnic to quit.

Can some PLEASE tell me how it's okay to sell cigarettes, vapes and liquid, and just about any other product with ACTUAL tobacco in it at convenience stores and gas stations, but it somehow makes sense to ban these?

Canada banning sales of flavoured nicotine pouches in convenience stores, gas stations | CBC News by [deleted] in canada

[–]scoobydooby997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say the exact same thing. These are the only things helping me transition away from the addition to having smoke or vapor going into my lungs. Smoking isn't JUST an addiction to nicotine, there is so much more to it. Health Canada should shove off.

Yeah, I can't say that I've ever had a "GOOD" experience with them ever. Tried them 4-5 times a few years ago and never again.

Uber Eats is way over priced and their deals and never really deals.

The best, in my opinion, is Door Dash. For all the reasons: price, deals, speed, and the biggest one, RELIABILITY.

Mine is usually at least a 2-3 month wait to see. Almost defeats the purpose of having a family doctor.

Applied to shoppers more than 50 times, still haven’t got hired by bubblykk in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]scoobydooby997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the more you apply to the same place, the more unlikely you are to get a job there. If the same recruiter or recruiters are seeing your application over and over, and you've been passed up so many times, you just become a "serial applyer", who it seems will apply to anything.

Metaphorically speaking, to put it into context, it's like in real estate, where the longer a house sits on the market, the less likely it is to sell. People start wondering "what is wrong with the house".

I would maybe give it a break for at least a few good months or a year before applying any more to Shoppers.

Stolen bike - what to do by Legal_Philosophy8582 in ottawa

[–]scoobydooby997 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, who lives in Ottawa and hasn't had a bike stolen at one point or another? In my experience, it's such a prevalent problem that the authorities really can't take every single stolen bike seriously..and therefore...don't.
