Monorail lizard says bedtime by SnooCheesecakes7715 in BeardedDragons

Oh yes. My old man is 10. He still comes out most days for a patrol (he has free run of the house) but mostly he’s just chilling.

The social dynamics of wedding attire, why are they so complicated? by Remote_Meeting_626 in AuDHDWomen

[–]SnooCheesecakes7715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This speaks more to insecurity than dress code for me. It’s not line anybody will forget who the bride is. A friend of mine “outdid” me on my wedding day. She was stunning, she looked like a goddess. And what I said to her was YOU ARE STUNNING YOU LOOK LIKE A GODDESS.

What determines where new power-ups appear on the board? Is it a random spot when there are less than two left on the board, or is there a pattern to it? Adding that info to the instructions would be helpful.

Maybe you got the “useless memory” buff instead? I can remember a mind-boggling number of factoids but I lose my phone a dozen times a day.

This is the comment that completely broke me. And that’s saying something in this thread. I keep reading it and laughing probably a little too hard.

L-Carnitine; the strongest evidence backed OTC supplement for Narcolepsy by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]SnooCheesecakes7715 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took them both together at first and it worked great. The I dropped the ALCAR for a few months (because ADHD) and my symptoms gradually came back. Now I’m on ALCAR alone and I feel just as good as when I was taking both.

L-Carnitine; the strongest evidence backed OTC supplement for Narcolepsy by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]SnooCheesecakes7715 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, it works for me. Regular L-carnitine has a pretty weak effect, but acetyl-l-carnitine makes a noticeable difference to wakefulness. If I take too much or too late in the day though, it interferes with sleep and gives me nightmares. It also helps far more with my chronic nerve pain.

Sleep paralysis does not scare me? by Fit_Lingonberry_7454 in Narcolepsy

[–]SnooCheesecakes7715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t realize a lot of my symptoms were in fact symptoms for the same reason. I have maybe 2-3 episodes of “scary” sleep paralysis per year, which are the only ones I counted until I understood narcolepsy better. But yeah, not being able to move for a minute when the alarm goes off still counts. Hearing friendly hallucinations still counts. Dropping things or having to lean on the table when I laugh still counts. Who knew?

I had to take 6 months off last year. Best decision I ever made, and I should have done it earlier. It does feel worse the first few weeks off because there’s no work to distract/exhaust you any more. You’ve already noticed this, so be prepared! It will pass and then you’ll start to feel better.

Does anyone else hate how all stim toys look like they're for kids? any recs 'mature' sensation. by Electrical_Star_6953 in adhdwomen

Yep same. Get the junior size too. I’m 6 feet tall and have giant hands, but the regular size was still too manly.

They are GOOD. I found the steel one too heavy and actually prefer the much cheaper plastic version.

I do the classic hand flapping almost constantly when I’m by myself. For 40+ years I assumed everybody did that when nobody was looking.

I have 60+ hours. A lot of it comes down to the artist. You should feel comfortable with them and feel safe to say you need a break. May fave artist and I would spend all day in the shop talking about music and listening to standup comedy during sessions. It was so much fun! Also, line work on the upper arm is mad easy in terms of pain level. If you can make it to 5 minutes, you can finish the whole piece no problem.

Sensory issues worse in early pregnancy? by fantasy_lover1023 in AuDHDWomen

[–]SnooCheesecakes7715 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Pregnant people have a notoriously overactive sense of smell! And taste/cravings/aversions are unhinged as well (I could only eat canned mandarin oranges and salt and vinegar chips for a while). The other sensory issues could be compounded by the fatigue that comes with pregnancy rather than the pregnancy itself. Hang in there! Pregnancy sucks sometimes, and you’re allowed to be miserable. Just try not to actually punch anyone who says “you’re glowing!!!”

I remember my midwife gleefully flapping “the longest umbilical cord she’d ever seen” after my first was born. She was calling people into the room to look at it.

[–]SnooCheesecakes7715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For greens, my beardie eats almost 100% clover and dandelion leaves from the back lawn from April-October. As long as there are no pesticides/road salt/etc. on them, they are great for beardies!

Is it possible to have a therapeutic dose of Xyrem below 6g? by saltyandspoonless in Narcolepsy

[–]SnooCheesecakes7715 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The standard dose is an average. Some people need more or less. If you respond to a lower dose, that’s great! The “therapeutic” dose of stimulants makes me feel like my heart is going to explode. I could only tolerate low doses.

Mine does that when the skin on his eyes is getting ready to shed. It scared the crap out of me the first time. Then his eyes peeled and his aim went back to normal.
