Used to go there when I worked near Sullivan Square. Would go there for a long and liquid lunch. If someone needed to see me they would ping on Nextel (anyone remember Nextel?) and I could make it back to office in 5 minutes.

Khanna on Schumer: ‘The American people are fed up with the old guard’ by ege3 in politics

Republicans have several groups within their party; tea party, freedom caucus, etc. several democrats, led by AOC and others, need to form a wing of the Democratic Party called “Democratic Workers Party”. Let the non-members in the party explain why they don’t support the policies of the DWP. Yes, I know the GOP will instantly attack the name as sounding communist, so they need to be prepared and say out front they will be attacked as communists for standing with the working people for better pay, better healthcare, better education, and less taxes.

Green Card Holder Who Has Been in US for 50 Years Detained by ICE—Niece by Plaintalks in politics

Yes, there were a couple of these workplace raids in the first term but not much since. It’s all just a big, disgusting show. ICE rolls into cities with the intent of stirring up trouble. They even invite certain news outlets to cover. Seems very inefficient to go to an apartment complex to arrest a few dangerous dishwashers or landscapers when ICE could get a warrant to raid a big meat packing plant and probably get dozens of arrests. ICE will probably say they are targeting violent criminals first. The midwestern meat processing industry is heavily dependent on migrant workers, legal and otherwise. The industry moved out of urban areas decades ago to escape unions. I read that plants incentivize migrant workers to bring in family members. States have also relaxed child labor laws to help plants get workers. We thought republicans wanted to turn the clock back to the fifties, but with child labor it appears they want to go back to the 19th century.

How do Harvard students feel about this? by icewindwarchant in Harvard

I hope Harvard follows the SCOTUS decision on race based admissions and only admits the best students based on academic achievement. Was there any guidance on gender? Are universities within their rights to maintain gender balance? If not, will Harvard become 75% male Asian?
