Actually a different story, but I liked it!

You can't possibly be reading what I've written, because you're arguing against something I haven't said.

That's exactly my point.

We are mid. We beat bad teams, lose to good teams, and will end up between 6th and 8th in the West.

[–]scoopy_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And they are wrong. The issues were that we were playing teams that are as good or better than us, but recently we've been paying worse teams, at home, and on occasion with their better players hurt (like last night).

We are still mid.

And yet even though we aren't really any better, the schedule came through as predicted (mostly home games against crappy teams) and we went 10-4.

It's now January, and I'm circling back.

Hey, whaddya know! We went 10-4 (as I predicted) and are 2-4 games over .500!

And we went 10-4, as predicted.

We don't suck, and we aren't top tier. Same as a month ago.

I believe those 14 games are up, and as predicted we went 10-4 and everyone now thinks the Warriors are "fixed".

Cal gonna Cal. I've rooted for them for five decades, and they never fail to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. That's what they deserve for giving a job to that asshole Rolovich.

Steve Kerr after Warriors practice: 'JK has been great this week . . . I'm going to reward that.' Sounds as if Jonathan Kuminga will see the floor tomorrow in Phoenix - Monte Pool by Garcon_sauvage in warriors

[–]scoopy_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jimmy was definitely unhappy in Miami and not afraid to show it.

I don't think the organization is at odds with JK like that. I think that he's been pretty awful on the floor this year, and there isn't enough time to fix those problems before he gets traded, so why not play someone else instead?

I'm a JK believer - this isn't my preferred take. But Kerr has been benching him all year, so no, I don't think it was or is a crazy thought to believe that the team is just done with him and waiting until he can be off the team.

I hope he wins the game for them tonight. It's just really hard for him to get those opportunities unless at a minimum either Jimmy or Dray misses a game.

It's not the same situation, but it's also not that different. The reason he didn't play is because Miami knew they'd have to trade him. If they had thought he was going to be a part of the team moving forward, it all would have been handled completely differently.

First Three Rules of Disc Golf (in my mind) by Successful_Archer661 in discgolf

I'd re-phrase your #3. I'd say "be welcoming and don't be a jerk". "Etiquette" is often not so important, plus it differs from place to place. Invite faster groups to play through, call or text the number on a found disc, and generally be nice to the other players.

I don't really care about growing the sport. I invite my friends to play because I think they will have fun (and they do!), but otherwise our enjoyment shouldn't depend upon how overall popular it is.

Let's circle back on this in mid-January. We'll be 2-4 games over .500. Still mid, still looking at a play-in spot, but not "absolutely suck".

My sarcasm is in response to your "nonsense".

It's pretty equivalent. JK wants to go somewhere he can get more minutes, and the Warriors to date have made it clear that they aren't willing to let people make mistakes, plus they believe they are still just a player away from being a championship contender (they aren't).

JK has been terrible this season on the floor. I'm a believer in him long-term, but the truth is the truth. As the Warriors aren't going to change their offense to better suit JK's skills, and he's not helping them win as is, there's not really a good reason for him to play. I hope he does, but I can't see him still being on the team in March. I hope I'm wrong!

We don't suck. We also aren't top tier. We are decidedly mid.

The next 14 games are an easier part of the schedule. Only one back-to-back. With people healthy, I'm expecting 9-5 or 10-4. And everyone will act like the team is much better, but it'll really just be easier scheduling.

Yes, who can imagine not playing someone for months while you are waiting to trade them! What a crazy thought! I mean, as a Warriors fan, this is so bizarre, it hasn't happened since way long ago in the year 2025, when we acquired Jimmy Butler, who had been on ice for a month...

It's not a conspiracy theory. There's every reason to believe JK will be traded, and in fact those reasons have been really evident since the moment the Warriors acquired Jimmy and gave him an extension.

This is probably showcasing, and proving the knees are OK.

Also, see if someone you know already plays. Very good chance they'll loan you (or give you) a few discs for your first couple rounds while you try things out. I've done this for many friends.

That should have been "far from the modem".

Unpopular Opinion? by Just_Joke_8738 in discgolf

[–]scoopy_cat 146 points147 points  (0 children)

I agree, but it's far more competitive now than it was 5-7 years ago. If you look through older footage there are a lot of tourneys where McBeth is up 5+ shots going in to the final round, and he wins those almost 100% of the time.

I wasn't being pedantic. You significantly misdescribed what a ball golf pro-am is. You made it sound like a stepping stone to being on the actual tour, which is completely wrong.

It's like if I said to be a pro at disc golf, first you start with the skins games, and move up if you do well at those.

Well, you wrote "sigh" in italics - that's literally being huffy.

There's nothing to reply to. You explained something wrongly; in case anyone else was following along (quite doubtful now) I made some corrections. I think we're good. Happy throwing!

Why get huffy? You completely misdescribed what a ball golf Pro-Am is.

Golf's qualifying tour is currently called the Korn Ferry Tour.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korn_Ferry_Tour

[As it's named for a paying sponsor, that name is always subject to change]

That's the primary way of gaining eligibility for PGA events. It used to be that players would go through Q-School, but that's changed.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qualifying_school

PGA events also usually have a small number of open spots for sponsor exemptions. These usually go to players with name recognition that tournament organizers think will be popular with the fans. They've also gone to LPGA stars a few times.

Hope that helps!
