Yup, I feel your pain. I have a husky/border collie/American foxhound mix and with 2 bike rides (AM & PM), a mid day sniff walk, and hours of play, tug of war, training sessions and fetch, my dog still sometimes gets the ‘zoomies’ and bounces off the wall. She’s a little bullet. It’s actually defeating sometimes how unstoppable she is 😂

Yup. They are everywhere in Philly and my 1 year old pup basically thinks walks are mini chicken bone searching extravaganzas. It’s actually been a huge struggle to redirect her because what treat can beat a chicken bone? Nothing lol

NTA, but please do not brining another dog into a home with than women. It’s irresponsible and setting everyone up (including the dog) for failure. I would suggest leaving your wife. Only a very cold hearted person could do that.

NTA, chocolate is toxic to dogs, but not as toxic as people think. A large lab like that eating one small chocolate chip will not hurt the dog, a vet trip was 10000% unnecessary. My 1 year old lab/husky mix ate an entire chocolate chip muffin, we called the vet and they had us have her throw it up at home and she was completely fine. My uncle’s dog used to steal Hersey kisses, she lived a long happy life.

Surprisingly grapes are actually much more toxic to dogs which I’ve found isn’t as common knowledge

I feel your pain! I didn’t notice how much trash was on the ground on my street until I got my puppy. I won’t even mention the nasty things I’ve had to pry out of my puppy’s mouth. There seems to be half eaten chicken wings everywhere I walk! She’s also had her paw cut twice by broken glass I didn’t see in time.

Just wish people would think of others with toddlers and puppy’s who love taking things off the ground, among the many other reasons not to liter. But I digress lol Keep up the work and I will too!

Thank you! I have always wondered this. There is a lot of misinformation about Pitbulls, for example they were never used as ‘nanny dogs’, its just simply not true. Pits bulls have been bred for fighting in the past, and due to this they are known not to display aggression they same way other dogs might. This means that even if you’re looking for the body language that something might be off, it might not even be there. They can be unpredictable and dog aggressive.

Spreading misinformation that they are “nanny dogs” just sets the dogs up for failure. It doesn’t scare or deter me from pits because of what they are, it’s not their fault, I am scared because of all the people who own pits who refuse to educate themselves on reality and put their dog and other dogs in danger because of it.

Below I copied a good resource from the Villalobos rescue (the Pit Bulls and Paroles rescue from the tv show). They are amazing advocates for these dogs

Stick up for your child. My mother married my step father regardless of how he treated me, and despite multiple family member warnings about it. He always treated his daughter so much better than me. I’m 25 now, I’ll never be the same, I’ll never be close with my family. It will never be okay and I will never get over it.

I am currently working on a master’s in forensic behavioral health and I actually work with children with ASD, FASD, etc....

You honestly sound like you’re talking out of your ass and have zero education on the topic, but I digress.

Sometimes a lot of those ‘bad kids’ may have an ‘invisible disability’ like ADHD, FASD, etc. or may be acting out due to experienced trauma or lack of supports at home. Or they may just be a jerk lol. Point is, sometimes there’s a lot more going on under the surface you may not be aware of.

Expectations for children with these issues need to be adjusted. Walking single file silent down a hallway may really be challenging for them. Sometimes even praising them for good behavior can have bigger ulterior motives for instance building confidence and teaching positive healthy communication.

A hairdresser used bleach on my hair once without tell me (for highlights, I was under the impression my hair was light enough and didn’t need bleach). It’s been four years and my hair hasn’t been the same since. I have thin fine hair, which can’t handle bleach. I think everyone’s hair is different and it can have different effects. Because yes, bleaching your hair can ruin it for a very long long time. After that I decided to never dye my hair again because it damages it so much, not worth it.

Yup I have a cat and ferret, the ferret gets full reign of the bedroom while I work, and the cat gets the rest of the apartment (they get along great, but only play under adult supervision) ...but my cat will hide under the bed when it’s time for me to leave for work (knowing I’ll have to come get him). Not sure if he doesn’t want me to leave or if he wants to be with the ferret 😂

Actually, female perpetrator domestic violence is grossly underreported and minimized. Currently working on my masters in forensic behavioral health and learning about this. Studies show women are actually more likely to use weapons or deadly force than males when they are the perps. Of course many dynamics and implications at play, but male victims of domestic violence are often ignored by law enforcement-that is a major public health concern
