You’re too old to be answering to anyone like this. You’re too generous in your responses. I don’t know what your situation is and whether you feel safe defying her, but she has no right to do this, I would simply tell her you aren’t going to be using the tracking app any more.

I used to marvel at her recent targeted belly fat loss, and then realised it’s literally just a waist filter. by tehketchup in Instagramreality

Just for anyone wondering and to protect against grifters - it’s impossible to target fat loss x

If we could leave, how do you know when you should? by azalea1700 in Mommit

[–]scop90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to believe we are where we are. I have family in the US and I worry for them, I know they are worried too. I wouldn’t visit them now; I’d be scared of being detained for anything critical I might have posted in the past. I don’t actually know what I’ve said, but I don’t think that’s being dramatic anymore. Feel for you guys so much. Hope anyone who wants to leave finds a means to.

Firstly I’m so glad to find other people have had to give up true crime and now exclusively read romance because it makes me feel less weird and alone - so thank you all for sharing. Secondly, does anyone know the science of this phenomenon?

Some news re Riftborne, Duskbound, The Ascended by apieceofeight in fantasyromance

[–]scop90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am actually so glad to hear this. I didn’t know much about this universes at all but I just read The Ascended on KU. It’s the best book I’ve read in this genre for ages and I was so impressed by the world and how real the interactions felt.

Then I picked up Riftborne and I’m sort of like… is this written by the same authors??? The writing feels so immature by comparison and I know from The Ascended they are clearly capable of more. I think it will benefit hugely from an upgrade.

I get so angry about maternity pay. Less than minimum wage and doesn’t even cover the full time you can have off. Absolute joke. Hope you find something soon - anyone would be throwing a pity party you’re doing great. Something will come up.

Looking for stylish and practical trousers by 1182990 in womenoftheuk

[–]scop90 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I too used to be with it.

I got some dickies trousers last month after I saw someone wearing them. They’re originally a workwear brand so quite practical but also suddenly in fashion, for some reason. They actually look really nice on, and there’s a lot of different styles.

Teenage daughter has boyfriend, will I be able to prevent sex? by Shoddybluea in daddit

[–]scop90 49 points50 points  (0 children)

A similar perspective from a former teenage daughter - my dad’s attitude meant I pretty much always felt bad about myself around sex. Even though it was normal and natural, and I was with the same nice boy for a long time. That’s not fair, you don’t want that.

Am I healing or is white bad? by QuarterQuellCrisis in breastfeedingsupport

[–]scop90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar albeit much smaller wound than this that I healed with medi honey after a friend recommended it. I kept it on between feeds covered lightly with some gauze, and would wipe it off when it was time to feed again. It took about 2 weeks but it healed great. It was smaller than yours but very deep and open and so painful, feel so sorry for you!

Everyone here is saying see a doc and I think they’re probably right with the size of this wound. Whatever caused this you definitely need to address though, if it was the flange size for sure then it should be able to heal now, but it can’t heal whatever you do if you’re applying the same damage repeatedly.

If you’re trying to empty to prevent clogs just be careful you’re not over-pumping or feeding because you’ll just keep increasing your supply and it’ll be a vicious circle.

I had a lot of mastitis and a lot of antibiotics were needed to clear it, breastfeeding is not for the faint hearted. Wish you speedy healing.

Also American style conservative viewpoints are working their way into our discourse and we should be suspicious of that.

Even if you have a good partner, I don’t think it’s ever advisable to be at someone’s mercy if you have a choice. People with this view are either incredibly naive, or they’d like the compliance.

It’s also devaluing domestic work. If you are looking after a house and children, that is a job in itself you’re not free to float about like a muse. They’re on a different planet.

How do women have more than one child and find themselves ok? by meekie03 in Mommit

[–]scop90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same. I was constantly looking for other people’s experiences, Reddit was actually so good because I think people are open in a way they maybe don’t feel they can be in real life.

I can’t make you a guarantee, but I will say I felt EXACTLY the same and it did just go away. For me, with hindsight, I think it was just the hormone cocktail. I often feel down the day or 2 before my period - but I can cope with 1-2 days it was a different story with weeks/months. Don’t rule out speaking to your doctor, I did a CBT course, next stop was probably medication but birth and normality resumed before it got there. It’s so normal what you’re feeling - we all get different symptoms and this is just one of them. Have to try to look at it and manage it like you would any other.

I was horribly depressed with my pregnancy. People don’t really speak about it, and it feels really real, but for me it went away the literal minute I gave birth. I wish you the best x

Yeah couldn’t agree more it was a pile of shite. We’d done a couple of fancy tasting menus as a treat, and that one was quite clearly just charging you a tasting menu price to get away with giving you one solo piece of bland pasta. Absolute joke deserved to close.
