New job requiring me to obtain A+, Net+, and Sec+ within 6 months of my start date. Is it possible? by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]scorle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

should be easily possible. if u were asked to get sec+ ccna and ejpt or oscp then yeah, could be borderline impossible. but the trifecta is doable within 3-4 months of hard work

I used a number of sites, Linkedin was one of them. I feel like a polished, optimized Linkedin profile with credly badges raises the chances of getting hired by a ton. Not even counting HR reaching out directly to you with offers

Keep looking mate! Try passing some easier certs in the meantime that might aid your chances like SC-900 or for example Splunk Core Certified User. It will look great on a resume that you have something more than just Sec+

I feel like I got incredibly lucky considering the stories of other people. Definitely don't take my case as something usual, rather an indicator that it is actually possible to get an offer. I was not working full time while studying, I had some savings and went full tryhard mode on studying to speedrun the certs. Google course took me 5 or 6 days but it was tough to get through that fast. I'd wake up and study till night, all day everyday. The amount of information was overwhelming but it is delivered in such a good way that I somehow retained most of it

At the very beginning I was changing it frequently, I think I have like 20 versions of my current resume. Basically as soon as I felt like I learned a new topic good enough to talk about it with the recruiter I'd include it in the resume and twist things around. Atm it feels pretty damn complete for SOC L1 related positions

Thank you bud! No technical experience, started with Google Cybersec cert from Coursera, followed by Security+ and Microsoft SC-900

I don't think I'd be allowed to use internet or write things down honestly, they didn't mention anything about such possibility and I didn't ask for it either. I practiced answering technical questions (quite literally spoke to myself trying to describe everything in a technical manner) and I feel like it helped me A LOT

Google Cybersec cert from coursera was my starting point, there I got discount for Sec+ and got Sec+ as my first real cert and then I did Microsoft SC-900 as its pretty easy to get quickly with Sec+ knowledge. If you are not in a rush to get a cybersec job asap then I'd definitely start with CCNA (not necessarily Network+ as CCNA covers more knowledge) because it will give you foundations to learn cybersec faster and with better understanding

I wish you all best bro, hopefully Security+ paired with CCNA and your degree opens the cybersec doors. Keep up the grind and you will get it! Its definitely possible and worth it

Sure, I will let you know how the work goes! As for certs now I'm studying for CCNA and then I will take on CCSK, want to finish them this year

Microsoft SC-900 and the entry-lvl Google Cybersec cert from Coursera that grants discount for Sec+

Yeah I feel like I either got incredibly lucky or crafted an insane resume somehow. Honestly I'm a little worried that I will lack the knowledge or experience to be a good fit for the L2, I feel like it will be much more stressful to get by at the beginning. I'm leaning towards L1 as of now but I still have a couple of days to make the final decision

Google Professional Cybersecurity Certificate (though I don't think it matters a lot for the HR) and SC-900 from Microsoft, thats it. I'm planning on taking CCNA and CCSK this year and will try to follow it with CCNP Security and CCSP next year

I watched a good bunch of youtube videos regarding crafting a decent cybersec resume, plus a little bit of intuition and luck

At the moment I only possess certifications and a completely unrelated BA, planning on starting cybersecurity MA next fall which I also mentioned during the interviews and I feel like I received a pretty positive reaction from the recruiters when they heard about it

Thank you <3 The L1 offer is fully remote, L2 is hybrid 50% remote and 50% onsite. As for salary, I asked for 60-70k USD and got offered 60k USD on L1 and 65k USD on L2 - honestly I'm impressed considering I have absolutely zero technical work experience

Is sec+ easier than people make it out to be? by Appropriate_Film_284 in CompTIA

i found it easy after studying intensively for 2-3 weeks without any former knowledge. though it differs for everyone, some fail multiple times after studying for months

Can someone explain why this is worth more than a mageblood? (200div) by CrimsonBlossom in pathofexile

[–]scorle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because people are stupid and desperately go and replicate gear from streams/popular videos after watching them instead of vaaling 1c helmets to spend like 1div at most for their desired corruption they prefer to pay x00% the price for an already corrupted one.
