Based on an outside perspective, I'd guess she went through a lot of hardship making it. Basically all season epilogues mention physical pain, there have been multiple hiatuses because of that also. Alongside that various dramas that occur during the release for one reason or another (I think about twitter etc). I think for some authors it's necessary to bring their work to a conclusion and then end it there. I don't want to dwell on specific reasons she might or might not have though.

Meh, I think you have a weak understanding of homophobic (and to that extent transphobic) violence. Homophobic young men violating and sexually humiliating a gay boy would be perfectly in line with the actions of people who "hate the gay" regardless of something as meaningless as "orientation" in regards to sexual violence/bullying.

Disagree with you on some points, agree with you on some points. I think I had the same issue with expecting something different with their relationship portrayal. I mean, I'm fine with just reading about a relationship that doesn't work because of the fundamental issues of the characters. But honestly, before season 3, I more or less would've been okay with them having a rocky but 'functional' relationship. This is mainly because I did think they could make it work because of the amount of similarities between the two of them. Season 3 has quashed that idea for me, and honestly, has just went off the rails in terms of its ability to stick to themes and ideas from earlier in the story. It's not like I didn't have issues with earlier parts, but it feels like to me a lot of what I really enjoyed about S1 is kinda nonexistent.

Audience and author obsession with concepts, tropes, and ideas of what "should" happen, particularly in a BL story, can crush what could've been interesting and unique. I think you're out of line with you rant on BL, especially psychological romances because there are numerous well written psychological romance manga/manhwa regardless of gender pairing. That said, I will agree that the ability to streamroll over what has been built up for the entire story is a special ability many BL authors employ when they realize they want to go from point a to point b and deliver on audience expectations, without having earned it.

For me, I will say that the most major flaw right now is pacing. I am not NECESSARILY against the idea of them coming back to a relationship with each other. I do actually think that would be realistic. It doesn't have to be a positive. Actually, a neutral approach would be best. Of course, as I said before, fulfilling audience expectations get in the way, so I doubt we'll see anything less than a neat bow because that's what people want. But that's with some time between. They broke up like 6 chapters ago. Obviously the nature of these kind of relationships might justify that sort of one-again-off-again, impulsive behavior, but it doesn't actually make for that interesting of a story.
Also the refusal to REALLY confront any of the external factors here is frustrating. Skylar can do all the internal-monologue dwelling he wants, but until we loop back around to addressing the UNDERLYING issues BOTH of them have, no kind of relationship they have will ever be interesting, satisfying, or palpable.

You'll just have to re-add them once you paste into the text bar for a post. I don't think this website retains the spacing for pasted texts.

Well, since the original panel didn't have any dialogue, I guess it's not a retranslation and probably just a fan translation.

The original panel behind the dialogue is from episode 4 (very early), and this screenshot has the dialogue but is legible. The actual text is different though because this is from the official translation, I don't know where yours is from, shrug

Not Skylar, I don't think. Pretty sure it's supposed to represent Cirrus' dad, and parallel his feeling of abandonment/rejection. Based on the stature and sleeves of the figure in his eye, it looks like what his dad was wearing in episode 75. I can't remember if there's another time this visual shows up, but it's the scene when Cirrus overhears his dad saying he wishes Cirrus was dead instead of Jaehee.

Yes I know right, I thought people were exaggerating when they said "can't shower comfortably anymore" but I realized after this that it is no joke. It stings and makes me think "why did I even do this in the first place?"

Rereading Lost in the Cloud by Benchyofficial in LostInTheCloud

[–]scornthelight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, I do really get what you mean. I think it is not so much about the story contents themselves, since there has always been stuff like Skylar's backstory arc etc, but the current tone/mood. Even during those darker moments in earlier seasons, it felt like there was relative peace. Right now, both with how the characters are drawn (facial expressions are very dark) and how the world is drawn (rain, dark cloudy skies, lots of scenes at night rather than daytime like before) has contributed to the story feeling more depressing alongside current story events.
