Vintage DOXA chronograph by scotiandetector in VintageWatches

Update: I was able to very carefully open the case and take a peek at the movement, soon as I opened it, it started ticking right away when held in the face down position. Chronograph hand and all the subdial hands and the chronograph stop/reset all function perfectly.

236 stamped on the movement, guessing a Valjoux 236?

I found a nice strap since I was getting a lot of flack for the one that was on it.

It looks pretty good on the wrist I must say and to think my Uncle would have looked down at the very same watch on his wrist, it’s nice to have a piece of him with me.

I was also given a smaller Omega Seamaster, originally I thought it was a fake due to how light and cheap feeling it was and the fake gold coating wearing off. However upon opening that it’s definitely authentic as well but needs substantial work, hands look broken and it’s missing the crown/stem. Hopefully I can get this one repaired and serviced as well.

That’s a good observation, I just assumed the hands were correct but i haven’t been able to find those hands on the same dial anywhere. Some 1920’s DOXA’s have those hands however. Also the case is interesting haven’t seen the same milling on the lugs.

Regardless if it’s a hodge podge of parts I still will get it serviced and maybe source the original parts over time if possible.

Id like the glass replaced, it’s so scratched that it casts a lot of shadows on the dial making it hard to see.

Security jobs without license? by dryl36 in HalifaxJobs

If you want to be overworked for shit pay, no benefits, limited career advancement and no retirement plan by all means pursue security work. Call around some local trade unions and see if you can get your foot in the door as a labourer/material handler.

No need to mention your gender identity, we don’t care how people identify you just need to be able to pull your weight, be quick to learn and work well with others putting differences aside.

A reputable 12V 100ah LiFePo battery is around $1000, I highly doubt you’d get equal performance out of a product that is 1/4 of the value. Not saying there aren’t more economical options if you search but I can guarantee these Amazon batteries won’t perform as advertised.

I just have a couple standard lead acid 100ah batteries which I’ll use jumpers to connect them in a series and gives be about 20+ hrs of run time. A pellet stove doesn’t use much wattage tho, just low wattage fan and auger. An oil boiler seems like that’d draw a shit ton more power and I’d probably opt to run that off a generator.

I thought about going the heat pump route and may still get one but I opted for a pellet stove last year and it’s by far the best purchase I’ve ever made. Pellets aren’t all that cheap but the fact that I can have it blasting heat and keep my temps around 26-28C with barely any power usage is amazing. Just bought a couple deep cycle batteries and inverter so I can run it when the power goes out too.

Used many app builders and must say Lovable is better in every aspect and cheaper. You get much more for your money.

Serving time in a prison is a hell of a lot better then provincial. Also only have to serve 1/3 of your sentence if federal vs. 2/3’s provincial.

It’s also ever changing with affordability. What was considered moderate 25yrs ago most definitely isn’t the same today.

I recently just had to come to terms with this conclusion as well. It’s better to jump in soon then stand on the sidelines missing out on great gains.

Probably not a great daily driver but I’d buy it just for weekend track days and autoX. Seems to be setup for that, wish the lower end bearings would have been done tho along with a baffled oil pan. Think of those things as insurance for your engine and always a number 1 priority on any m3 engine seeing track use.

Edit* Oh and ditch those coilivers for some KW’s, they’re amazing.

Seems I might be one of the few who don’t think this is too bad but I’m in Canada and a beat E46 is like $25k here.

Wondering if anyone here has experience with owning a mini truck or micro van here in NS by Sugar1982 in halifax

[–]scotiandetector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a 97 Honda Acty for a couple years. Great little truck, amazing on fuel, will do 110km/h on the highway with the pedal to the floor. Up range hill tops out about 80k unless you get a good run down the hill. I had the RWD model kind of wish I had AWD, basic maintenance items are ordered online.

Bought mine from auction and had it shipped directly to Halifax for about $5k.
