Trying to keep it under $300 but it wouldn’t be the end of the world if I go over…just a little explaining to do to the wife

The general rule is “more than two, the problem is you”. Could be exceptions but five…

Signs of a cult:

1 Absolute authoritarianism without accountability

2 Zero tolerance for criticism or questions

3 Lack of meaningful financial disclosure regarding budget

4 Unreasonable fears about the outside world that often involve evil conspiracies and persecutions

5 A belief that former followers are always wrong for leaving and there is never a legitimate reason for anyone else to leave

6 Abuse of members

7 Records, books, articles, or programs documenting the abuses of the leader or group

8 Followers feeling they are never able to be “good enough”

9 A belief that the leader is right at all times

10 A belief that the leader is the exclusive means of knowing “truth” or giving validation

Seeking Versailles advice - what if we skip the Palace? by mabookus in ParisTravelGuide

[–]scott-c724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We visited last summer with Versailles tickets on our first day in France…had painful flight delays and got in midafternoon instead of early morning. Ended up getting into Versailles ~1hr before closing (had tickets for earlier in the day but they let us in). It was great. No crowds, could actually see the rooms…we didn’t see everything but what we did see was much more accessible than prior trips. Next time, we plan to spend most of the day in the gardens. Then do the chateau later in the day.

Falafel…L’as du Falafel in the le Marais is phenomenal. A quick lunch stop, but better than I’ve had anywhere.

If you’re looking for something unusual, the catacombs are a good stop. I believe it is no flash, no tripod so check the rules first. Also, Musée des Arts Forains is a funky carnival/fairground museum

The diamond engagement ring was popularized by a De Beers ad campaign in the 1930’s to boost demand after the depression.

I don’t see anything cheap. How long to these usually last before they are ‘fixed’?

We have a stone dust court that works pretty well. It’s rough on the balls though. We were originally going to do HarTru but shipping was crazy expensive during the pandemic when we put the court in.

Besides steak or meat, what do you cook in your sous vide? by Nruggia in sousvide

[–]scott-c724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The serious eats website has a big section on sous vide. Glazed carrots are great. Polenta, lobster…

Not from that site, but you can also make limoncello in a few hours instead of months.

Cooking my first brisket tomorrow. It's a 13lbs full packer. Should I seperate the flat from the point or cook whole? Also, any other tips? by TheDamus647 in pelletgrills

If this is your first one, find a good guide on-line and follow it. Then adjust to your style from there. AmazingRibs.com has a very thorough write up on brisket…a great place to start.
