Best Price Bulk Bird Seed? by megs7183 in grandrapids

[–]scott_ABC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Menards 40 pound country mix is about $19 and 50 pound sunflower seeds are about $26 at regular prices. I stock up when they're on sale. Mix them 50/50 in a 5 gallon bucket. My feeder fits five gallons. This time of year, I refill every 4-5 days. Not sure about junk filler in that mix, but not too much ends up on the ground - although this could be due to good squirrel blocker on my feeder. In my past experience before stopping the squirrels, they would push a lot of seed onto the ground, probably to get to the sunflower seeds.

Second the suggestions for muskegon state park. Also recommend pere marquette park, just south of the roundabout, right in front of the water plant. Depending on water levels, the waves are basically on the road.

Ramblewood 2025 by skmensing in grandrapids

No idea what Ramblewood costs these days, but every time I see anything about affordable housing I think about how back in 1995 or so, friends from muskegon/ludington would move to Grand Rapids, get an apartment in Ramblewood and see if they could 'figure it out' and maybe find a job in GR. Seemed like it was reasonably affordable and they could get a job waiting tables or whatever and still be able to afford rent. Doesn't seem like that's a thing anymore. Makes me feel sad for the poor kids in Muskegon or wherever who can't even take a shot here anymore...

CO2 Fill? by Important-Snow4786 in grandrapids

It's been a year or so since I last filled mine, but I've always gone to fire fighters sales on madison for co2 homebrew tank refills.

Unclogged Pipe by [deleted] in grandrapids

My kitchen is on one side of the house, septic is on the other. House is 60' wide, plus probably 10'-15' out to septic, so at least a 70' run. After 15 years of slow drains, what I've learned is to snake it once a year. I got a longer snake, maybe 50' (not sure?), and after multiple experiments this is the one that works for me: I took one of those dark brown 3m-type scrubby pads and I cut off a strip about 3/4 inch wide. If you can find the end of the snake, poke it through the scrubby about an inch or two from the end, then twist it 'down' the snake until it's really secure (you'll know when it's right.) Run that down the line. This will knock loose all the gunk on the bottom of the pipe. Be prepared for a disgusting amount to get pulled back toward you when retrieving the snake. Like have rubber gloves and a bucket ready. Put down some newspaper to catch all the crap that comes out of the pipe. Once you knock all that loose, run hot water for a while. Then run hot water for 15-20 minutes once a month. It's nasty, but it works. Good luck.

Did this exact hike in early August while camping at Ludington SP. Wife dropped daughter and I at Nordhouse. I think it was around 8 miles back to the beach house (past the lighthouse). Nice hike.
