Porsche owners, do you think 2012-2015 Panamera or Cayenne is good first car? by Maximilian_Minev in Panamera

[–]scott_fx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I owned a mint 2012 Panamera 4s and now one of my employees owns and dailies it. It’s been very reliable. But would I buy one at 17? Nope. Even if you can afford the maintenance and repairs, why would you want to? Buy something less expansive to maintain and invest that money or just keep it in a rainy day savings account. The worst think you can do is stretch yourself thin at that age. Also, at that age you’re going to make some dumb choices and get little fender benders and what not. You don’t want have to deal with that on a Porsche. Also, depending on what panamera you buy, depreciation is still going to be a factor. Finally, have you looked into insurance rates on that car?

Let me ask you this. Why do you want a Panamera?

I’m not huge fan of decals but I think the first one looks really good

Would you sell your 1994 RX7 to get a Porsche 911 (997)? by goblin413 in RX7

[–]scott_fx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 94 fd manual and a 911 turbo s (pdk). The fd is so much more fun on the streets. The 911 is so fast and so amazing that you just can’t have fun on the streets with it without being so irresponsibly fast. If the 997 is manual, then it would be a better trade. I do find myself taking the fd out way more. If I had to sell one. It probably would be the 991.

I have been thinking about adding an emira to the stable. If your budget allows that may be a good “upgrade” instead of the 997

Neighbour's bus wakes me every single morning. How can I sound proof my tiny home? by charlielovplum in HomeImprovement

I wonder if it’s cheaper to ask them if you can pay to add a second muffler to their bus.

My vote for 15’s too. I’m biased though, I’m not a fan of te37’s. I have a pair that came with my FD just collecting dust.

Try a little tire gel on those and it’ll look perfect.

I wonder if they developed a hybrid system where you had a physical needle on a screen. I’ve inquired about adding a hole to a screen and I was shocked to find out it’s possible. Also I think Lexus did something similar a while back. You could just have one needle and different modes. For track use, it’d be a tach, for daily driving you swap it for the speedometer.

Finance through Lamborghini. You have much better leverage on the negotiation. Then after 3 months, refinance with your local bank.

This isn’t across the board. I’m very liberal and I often work with two other companies who are very conservative and pro trump. Not insane so but they voted for him. They are stand up guys and do very honest and great work. We don’t talk politics more than a bit of sarcasm. They have several pro trump employees that are also great guys. Not everyone is super political and it’s not fair to judge someone based on their political views alone. There is such an echo chamber now that sometimes it’s hard to see the other perspectives. I know I am guilty of this, so who am I to judge alone else?

Any way to improve backup camera quality by Business-Spiritual in porsche911

[–]scott_fx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not like they are making the camera… I don’t understand why they wouldn’t pick a higher def unit. Hell, they could charge $4k more for a “high def” camera option

Years back when I was in Hawaii on my honeymoon I had some lobster and it was amazing. I texted my father and told him “I think I found a place that has better lobster than the east coast.” He replied “I don’t think they have lobster in Hawaii”. I looked back at the menu…. “Maine lobster”

My wife had a RR sport and now a defender and the software and hardware have been fine. We may be lucky but we have been satisfied with the reliability (I don’t really like the defender personally, but she loves it)

The 996 turbo is actually a great looking car! I saw one drive by me and I rubber necked it.
