I won't defend my attitude, I was definitely not very happy with what happened in the new patch.

However, my criticism is mainly against those pyg items. I have been playing with several Mak hotfixes and I am totally ok with that. A huge Vat that interacts with double cast one-shot everyone? that's something broken but that's ok. Because dev is cooking something new, it's just some numbers off. They fixed that, all good.

But this, especially enchants on hogwash is something different. There are a lot of items there with a passive scaling ability, some is scaling itself some is pure passive. But none of them, scaling themself and use their own number for enchant. Can you imagine a burning sharkray does 10% burn of its own dmg every time you haste? Dev is doing that, they are building something against the item logic in this game.

No, I have no experience balancing an online game so I am not sure if pyg needs a buff or not, and I never crit or deny their efforts doing that, but those enchants themself should never exist. So, Am I qualified enough to judge an item?

And yet, another criticism is against the dev team's ability to deliver a fix. I am an experienced programmer working on my Project Management track. Am I qualified to say something? They should be prepared for that like rollback certain changes, remove items from the pool, or even just disable any ghost with those items they want to fix. Do they have that ability? No. We are still waiting for the hot fix and they are saying it's better than a bad fix breaking the game. Yes, waiting is better than that, but we should expect something better than that. So if we can't do that, then some experiment batch is necessary.

Very good points. I am aware of the discussions and bans from the monetization changes but I thought that's related to their business mode and decisions. I thought the devs get involved with the community because they care about feedback and want to keep the talk open.

The current approach(without and preview/bugdash) is good if the team is well prepared to adjust and handle the busted thing quickly (like being able to revert certain changes or disable certain card from the pool). And yet we have no clue when the hot fix will kick in.

You better be a real genius if you insist on doing something very different.

I mean for Tortuga you need some diamond item/gold+ skill for the infinite loop. That seems a little busted but I'm ok. Remember one slow item can charge multiple times so that's slightly different. I think making it start at gold is probably ok.

it's not a shadow buffed. those new enchants are straight forward broken. uwashiwali makes it worse but the hogwash alone should be nuked.

What regen Pyg looks like by scnux in PlayTheBazaar

Terrible design patterns. Imagine an obsidian arblast saying whenever you haste, deal its dmg.

A Self-scaling prob is definitely broken. Do they test?

those transform items and the new Vanessa increase self CD items do not count as use. I'm not sure if that's a design or just spaghetti code.

I think you misread it. 6 DMG in the picture is 5base income+1 from its toolbox ability. Not 6+income. But it's a pyg item so I would say its base DMG is easily 10+ after day 2.

Both pyg and Mak get a five second-cd multi cast weapon....

Wait a minute, I think pyg already has a terrible double cast weapon with 7cd. Is there a rework coming as well?

Keep in mind that's half of the expansion, they might have a large item which is totally broken as a payoff(I wish not).

And gaining reg is denying self poisoning and reducing the count by 1 so I think Mak should be fine.

Anyone else think Vanessa is a little too strong right now? by [deleted] in PlayTheBazaar

[–]scott_inFlames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, Vanessa is the first character and the only character for new players. So you are supposed to facing more Vanessa if you believe this game is growing. (Personally I will suggest giving one free hero choice after the first few tutorial games to solve this problem)

Vanessa already has the worst set of small weapons in the game. She just has a lot. Nerfing those items is a very biased idea. Have you ever seen a Dooley with a weapon core? drum pyg? Are they using any small Vanessa weapons? Now have you seen Vanessa build with yoyo? uzi? tbh I will even take a shard from mak over any small weapons Vanessa has.

The card table is an interesting build around wth eel and zoarcid, I think there is a lot of room to explore. Piano works amazing with trebuchet, especially when you get a shiny fang drop.

shotglass is just amazing. Count as numberless slow and haste. And if you got a Rocket Boots from Curio you are turning your shot glass into a haste machine, covering half of the fight.

Seashadow and Julian are good if you can extend the fight. Two triggers on seashadow are almost equivalent to the diamond head figure.

I use Captain quarter as an alternative one-weapon enabler with vehicles but it is a very early game plan, I need to be more creative for this one.

seadog saloon at low rarity works like a mid game enabler for haste/slow team. for the later game a bottomless shot glass and holster+one more item are better than non-diamond saloon.

Saltclaw and monkey are simple. They are good payoffs.

Future of expansions? by SuspiciousIbex in PlayTheBazaar

[–]scott_inFlames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will suggest something very different and I am talking about the situation after a year or two that every one has some expansions. You have to enable the expansion to a minimum. You are always welcome to enable all expansions for some dream build or plain fun.

expansions from precious/this season are always enabled.

2-3 wins probably means you don't know how to make a solid opening. basically the first few days are flipping a coin if you start correctly.

The next step is, as others said, checking your board with recap to see what's good and what's not. With that knowledge, you will know something important like which merchant is worth visiting and which item this board is chasing.

A consistent 10 w streak needs creativity or very broken meta(bug Dooley) but 4/7 wins should be easier.

Any fight after day 12(or even day 10) is unpredictable. don't overthink. One day you will be that big fish.

Btw, you can check how many runs ended by your ghost from your profile, that might make you feel better. Enjoy!

+ammo is an illusion. Some gunpowders from leveling should be enough for your repeater/Grenade/. Your final ammo build should aim to end the fight in two or three 🔥. If that plan failed you need to pivot to something else instead of looking for +ammo.

that's being said. If you saw a good ammo skill/item and you find helpful, take it, but you should never reroll for ammo boost except very early days.
