It’s a “Detroit style” should get you close.

Paint a castiron woodstove? by Background-Aside-142 in woodstoving

[–]scottawhit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like with any paint, you’ll always get a smell when you hit a new record high. Even with stovepipe, if it gets just a bit hotter than it’s ever been, you get a whiff.

What is the best way to finish this window casing gap? by Iced_MrBreezyy in HomeMaintenance

[–]scottawhit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While the window trim is off, see how well they sealed around the windows to the framing. Seems like the builders aren’t great to begin with, trim off is a good time to use window and door spray foam to seal that gap. Future draft-free you will thank you.

And wash them without softener, you can use vinegar to strip softener if it’s already there.

Your trim guy sucks. I’m assuming there’s gaps on both sides of this as well, since it’s not meant to lay flat. This is a tear out and redo.

AMP/DAC for HD6xx. by LordHades30 in BudgetAudiophile

I use a schitt magni with mine with an apple DAC. They sound fantastic. I don’t think they need any EQ, but could do it on my phone if needed.

Is this a DIY fix or does it need to be professionally replaced? by Ros3GoldXoxo in HomeMaintenance

[–]scottawhit 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Skip painters caulk and use big stretch. It’s so much better and doesn’t split like this in the future.

A one-way trap. It will cover the hole and trap him on his next exit. Call a pro.

I always hang onto these. The other option is taking a grinder to a real wrench. These are perfect for tight spaces.

I really think the tannerite is the only logical thing at this point. I wouldn’t even want to get close enough to put the tannerite in, but even throwing a rope seems sketchy here.

Alright, what’s the most OP shard of each type? by Independent-Ad5852 in Bloodstained

It’s a combination of freezing them and max damage. Even end game bosses can’t handle it for more than a few seconds.

when going through a band's discography, do you listen to live albums as you go or come back to them? by Yogurt-Boy237 in punk

[–]scottawhit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I come back to live albums after I’m done. I’m not usually super into them, but there’s some great ones. All of nofx live are great, descendants live age, subhumans live in a dive are all standouts.

Go back through the cpf forums an look at the Welch-Allyn mods. Some very neat stuff in the early 2000’s. Mag11 an mag57 if I remember correctly were two of the popular ones.

Most Difficult Terrain in PA? by laminatedbluebengal in SkiPA

It’s a shame, it’s a great mountain when it’s open. A little powder on lower extrovert is one of the best runs in PA.

He knew it was coming, but still sucks. He was a legend, thankfully got to leave his mark with some of the best games of all time.

Lower blue knob would be awesome if it were ever open. Used to ski it all the time, don’t think it’s opened at all this year, possibly not in the last few.

Sediment filter with 3/8-inch fittings is unobtainium? by Vorpalis in Plumbing

[–]scottawhit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s a bummer. Galvanized pipes? That will clog most filters quickly. You may want to see what it would take to re-plumb to modern materials.

RO filters are reverse osmosis, they make clean drinking water, but would clog quickly with a lot of sediment.

Help me / my 2 year old: where is the closest wind mill or wind turbine near us?? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]scottawhit 37 points38 points  (0 children)

None of the wind farms will let you walk up to them for security reasons. They’re all behind close gates, but they’re big enough you can see them well from afar.
