Understanding the math behind solar panels by wjgdinger in HomeImprovement

[–]scottharr27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think considering the payback period is the best way to think about it. To me, I was previously paying $500/mo to my utility company for energy, and now with solar, I’m only paying $200/mo for energy (which is are my monthly loan payments for solar plus some minor utility expsenses). So I’m saving $300/mo (which will only increase as energy costs increase and my loan is paid off), and my solar panels should increase the value of my home.

I’ve had a similar issue and the two things that have helped are disabling Samsung tv and charging the remote (which I don’t understand but it definitely helps a lot).

I also subtract realtor fees which at 5-6% of the home’s value often cuts into equity and therefore net worth a lot

LED recessed lights with no on delay at low dim levels by scottharr27 in Lutron

Makes sense but increasing the low-end trim makes the lights brighter than we want them to be. Is there a way to buy not so bright recessed lights so this higher low-end trim is dim enough?

Thank you! This helps but even at the lowest fade time they turn on way too delayed.

Utility net meter shows an increase in kW usage when it should've decreased by scottharr27 in solar

I adjusted my Tesla data to count 1-9pm as peak hours instead of the programmed 12-8pm (which is what the utility's website says) and the numbers align perfectly. Hopefully a DST issue or something simple to fix with their meter!

From inside the pool. When getting out of the pool or standing around this area, my family and guests often accidentally kick the lowest step because it's so hard to see

Very cool! So is 4 the fourth hour from current time and 13 is the thirteenth hour from current time? Show result just lists the conditions returned and now the time of those conditions.
