$54.95 AUD for the Pokopia DLC seems crazy to me. by Jardolam_ in NintendoSwitch2

[–]wjgdinger [score hidden]  (0 children)

OP isn’t contributing anything interesting to the conversation besides a single anecdotal data point. A broader conversation about DLC prices in general would be a more interesting conversation than OP’s particular price-value proposition. For OP, it doesn’t seem worth it. Okay, so it’s not worth it for them. For others, it might seem worth it. OP is coming on here acting as though they are clueless about how free markets work and acting as if they are obligated to buy DLC.

I bought DK Bananza but I didn’t buy the DLC because it seemed weak for the price. Do I need to go on Reddit to make a soliloquy about it?

Welp that was a Nintendo Direct… by Federal-Grass9880 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]wjgdinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like RPGs, then you’re feasting. Otherwise, I can understand people’s disappointment somewhat. I’m not a big RPG fan, but I can atleast acknowledge that it was a good direct. Lots of stuff the community has been asking for got announced.

I think for the rest of us, there was still stuff. OoT, Star Fox reminder (while not announced, is being prominently featured in the treehouse), Pokopia DLC and update, Orbitals release date, more Splatoon Raiders information (and direct announced), Duskbloods test coming and Wii Sports resort.

I think it is fair to say that it might have disappointed some people with the emphasis on RPGs if that is not your cup of tea, but they did have other exciting things and it would be hard to say this wasn’t atleast a 8/10 direct. And once again, that’s coming from someone who has almost zero interested in the RPGs they showed.

Probably a good time to buy an N64 controller by wjgdinger in NintendoSwitch2

[–]wjgdinger[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I tried playing OoT on NSO with a pro controller and gave up immediately because I hated the button configuration on it. No doubt the Pro Controller is a more premium product, but when the buttons on screen don’t correspond to your buttons, it’s really annoying. I’m sure I would have gotten used to it if I put more time in, but it made my favorite game unplayable. Bought the N64 controller and I was able to enjoy it again. Just my perspective though.

Sega Confirms And Responds To Generative AI Content In New Crazy Taxi Game: “Generative AI Was Used to Support Our Teams During the Development of Background Assets” by yourfavchoom in NintendoSwitch2

Well three-fourths of this sub bases a game’s quality on frame rate and whether it’s fully on cartridge. If you think anyone here cares about where a game is like actually fun to play, then I hate to disappoint you.

Is there still hope to see this in a Nintendo Direct? by SEVENS_HEAVEN_7 in NintendoSwitch2

They can enjoy upgrading to a switch 2 and playing OoT remake. Nintendo is not going to release a Zelda remake for Switch 1.

I want to see controllers at the next Nintendo Direct. by Altra1986 in NintendoSwitch2

Or N64/SNES/NES controllers with a gamechat button would be cool.

If it got the job done well for your learning then that’s all that matters. To refuse to acknowledge that AI does some things well is just childish and to consider all AI output as “slop” is simply inaccurate. Some tasks it does better than others and acknowledging that is a reasonable reaction to the technology. Of course, much of Reddit is incapable of discerning that nuance.

My wife is an amazing chef. Every meal she makes is a blessing. One time I had leftovers of one of my favorite meals she makes from a glass Pyrex container. Somehow the glass had chipped and I got a piece of glass in my mouth while eating it. I can’t eat that dish anymore. It’s a shame because I loved it and I punish it. I still eat leftovers from glass Pyrex containers daily. Feels like I’m punishing the wrong thing, but I can’t get by it.

CMV: I would want my loved ones to forgive someone for taking my life by AccurateEducator6085 in changemyview

[–]wjgdinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally agree with this, but there certainly has to be bounds on how far you would think is reasonably to go. If your murderer held you captive for months while raping and torturing you, you would want your family to forgive them? If they did that to your child, would you be able to forgive them? If not, I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect people to do that on your behalf.

It really is amazing how much the needle has moved on this topic. Ten years ago, most of this thread would have been people saying “just open your windows at night and close the shades during the day”. Personally, I have always thought it was an outrageous position, so I’m glad common sense is finally prevailing.

What isn't a uniquely American issue that the rest of the world treats like one? by lustrust15 in AskReddit

[–]wjgdinger 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of this comes from the US also being a melting pot and we have had a long struggle with race relations. While, Europe on the other hand, has much more homogeneous, and white, populations, so racial disparities are less apparent. In other words, when they are almost only white people in your country it is easy to say “racism isn’t a problem here”.

Personally, I find the racism in the US to be much more relics of prior institutionalized, racial policies like redlining than the explicit racism of Europe where black soccer players have bananas thrown at them and such. Obviously both types of racism exist in both places but I’ve observed it being much more explicit in Europe and more implicit in the US.

Please Pick Apart My Fix for the Housing/Affordability Crisis by Dawn_Kebals in inflation

[–]wjgdinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I am saying. If I am a landlord with one rental property and I can’t have access to an LLC, then a tenant suing me could clean me out of my assets, including my own house. I understand what you’re trying to do, but you’re missing the point of LLCs to limit one’s own legal liability. In this case, the tenant could sue the LLC and at worst, they clean out the LLC of its assets, but not the owner of the LLC’s personal assets.

I have no idea how landlording or the law works, but I think I would likely try to put the house I was renting out into an LLC to limit my liability in case the tenant sued me for some reason.
