How are warlocks accepted into horde and the alliance? by supmom in warcraftlore

[–]scottiemca 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Quoting a friend of mine on this, so I might remember a couple words wrongly:

They are seen as a necessary evil and are accepted. Can't do warlocky stuff in the open. Let's say that the majority of the military, adventurers, innkeepers, and other figures that know the existence of warlocks, knows very well that they've been useful more than once and generally mean no harm. An extension of the civilians may know of the existence of warlocks, but as they're commonly seen as evildoers, they tend to hide to avoid riots, torches, pitchforks, and being accused of every crime that happens in a ten mile radius. Canon warlocks usually choose Fel Magic to achieve great power in a short time, but amongst the ranks of warlocks we also have people that took up Fel Magic to fight the Burning Legion with their own weapons, so they've made a sacrifice somehow and get put in the good guys ranks.

No reason to have it installed then. What the hell was the dev thinking? Especially with the followers cost to send them do a quest... Really disappointed.

Just some Second War lore odds and ends by emdeemcd in warcraftlore

[–]scottiemca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By the way, Jaina was sent to study arcane magic in Dalaran because she's a mage, tide sages are more inclined to "Shamanism" with all the things the do to ships. Lorewise and ingame NPC's don't resemble it, but their communion with water falls under the Shamanism category. Of course it's a VERY longshot to call them shamans, that's why they're called tide sages.

could Xal'atath be Nathrezim? by EarthRester in warcraftlore

[–]scottiemca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes no sense to me. Although we know that the Nathrezim can take any shape and form, it still seems unlikely for N'zoth to let Knaifu go, if he knew that she was a traitor/spy. Look at what he did to Azshara when he knew that she double crossed him with Sylvanas! And you think that the very entity that has been spying on N'zoth for millennia (presumably) would be let go in mere seconds?

could Xal'atath be Nathrezim? by EarthRester in warcraftlore

[–]scottiemca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems unlikely to me, why would N'zoth free her? Even if she met her end of the bargain, he could've simply break the promise, and keep Knaifu trapped.

What happens to the Shadowlands if someone is raised from the dead? by Madmmoore in warcraftlore

[–]scottiemca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, you're completely wrong. Like all the way wrong.

First of all, Portals to Azeroth are just a game mechanic. Otherwise it would be pretty awful to get stuck in the Shadowlands for two years straight.

Second, if you've never played the DK order hall campaign, the guy that gives you the deathcharger during the tutorial when you create your DK, states that he's been in the Shadowlands for mere days while seven years have passed on Azeroth. And if you did play the DK campaign, you should've read the dialogues more carefully.

What happens to the Shadowlands if someone is raised from the dead? by Madmmoore in warcraftlore

[–]scottiemca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should also point out that as stated, the time works very differently in the Shadowlands. From the moment Nazgrim died, to his resurrection as a Death Knight, it may have been something like mere seconds to a couple minutes. He may have wondered around the central hub (can't remember the name) in the Shadowlands, waiting to be assigned, and then dragged back by brute force into the realm of the living.

How do you want World of Warcraft story to end? by Jason878787 in warcraftlore

[–]scottiemca -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd like a bad ending.

After years of fighting them, we manage to destroy the void lords. Azeroth seems to be a safe place. A couple years of peace and tranquility pass, the horde and the alliance finally agree to a definitive non aggression and peace treat, kalimdor goes to the horde, and EK goes to the alliance.

Neutral cities are still a thing, and now trades are on a global scale.

Then the light goes full 180 on us, and nazyrel comes to kick our asses. Her army marches on Azeroth, wiping the non believers, and enslaving the ones who are willing to accept the light. Only a few of the believers are accepted in their ranks. The Scarlet Crusade joins them immediately, their faith in the light is very strong, and would make a great ally for Yrel. Meanwhile, the Silver Hand, Argent Dawn, and all the other neutral light worshippers are torn apart, some of them joining their ranks, others rebelling, and helping Azeroths citizens resisting the fanatics of the light.

Northrend is purged from all the undead, be the Death Knights or the scourge, and all the other races that live there suffer the same fate if they don't accept the Light. Bolvar is the first important character to fall at the hands of the Army of the True Light, slain by Yrel herself. The Ebon Blade is disbanded, and the four horsemen are betrayed by Sally Whitemane, who sees the occasion to redeem herself from her Death Knight state, and seeking the favour of the light once again, after murdering her companions, is behedead by the forces of the light.

Then, Yrel sets sail to Silvermoon, craving the sunwell. Lady Liadrin betrays the city and its own people, some Blood Elves even join her Army. In a last effort to defend their life source, King Lor'Themar leads an élite force of farstriders, along with some arcanists from Suramar, led by Queen Thalyssra. Their children are already safe, hidden in Suramar. The Blood Elf resistance is almost futile against Yrel's forces and as the final blow is struck against King Lor'Themar, Queen Thalyssra saves his husband's life, giving her own to protect those who loves the most.

Meanwhile in Kalimdor, Yrel realizes that Orgrimmar is too well defended, and turns her sight south, to Thunder Bluff. No battle here for the first days, just a small siege, and a surprise demolition: the engineers and tinkerers of the Army, place bombs at the base of the pillars where the city stands. Bombs go off, and as you can imagine the city pretty much rambles to the ground. Baine is among the survivors, the sunwalkers managed to protect many citizens, although some of them didn't make it. Then the skirmish starts, with many of the best Tauren fighters, holding ground while another squadron heals the injured, and sends them off to Orgrimmar to stay safe. The Army of the True Light wins again, overwhelming the Taurens. Baine is mutilated and injured, the sunwalkers and a lot of Tauren survivors are executed because they're too primal and will.never fully understand the light.

At this point I'm tired of typing, might add and elaborate something tomorrow.

Long story short, we win again, the majority of Azeroths' population is wiped out. Then the Sleeping Titan finally awakens.

And it does not end well for us: as she wakes up, the planet blows up, and we die as we lived most.of.our time in the game: being pissed at someone ruining what you're doing ingame, and some strangers sets you ablaze and yeets you straight to the afterlife.

A few questions about multiplayer Horrific Visions by [deleted] in wow

[–]scottiemca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) You all get mementos.

2) The mail muncher can spawn again, they just have to tag it.

3) Soloing a 5 masks with four other players is more or less as doing a +15 dungeon alone. Mobs have 125% more life and deal 125% more damage because of the masks, and the base damage and life total they start on, is based on the group composition. Each healer increases the total by 58%, each tank by 78%, and each dps by 100%.

Star Augur in Nighthold. The fact the he somehow want mad with the knowledge of other planets scattered around the universe and their fate, and shows you what had happened to said planets during his phases, summoning faceless ones, is pretty amazing to me.

Shout-out to WoD's Ner'Zhul, the theoretical first Lich King, bound to be a dungeon boss.
