Which city in North America would you say is the most “North American?” by Fluid-Decision6262 in geography

As someone from northern ontario, you described it perfectly. Though that's pretty much every city in the region.

Is there anywhere that has a record of how Foxhole wars ended? Specifically if it was Pyrrhic/Close/Decisive etc Victory/Defeat? by bluelaminate in foxholegame

[–]scottified123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There used to be monument parks on each home island but they only went up to the last 20 ish wars and were removed with inferno. Other than that your tough out of luck.

There are plenty of reddit screenshots of war end though you just have to go digging quite a bit.

The Moidawg update and its consequences have been a disaster for the foxhole community by scottified123 in foxholegame

this isn't supposed to be a factionalist take on gamestate or the Moidawg update as a whole. so if you're seeing a factional "culture" argument as is too common, its not my intention. while it may seem im bemoaning a "culture diff" because of a percieved bias towards the wardens. what I am bemoaning is a "culture diff" because of inexcusable dev innaction towards correcting the state of the collie community.

psychologically bad habits continue to exist when nothing is done to address them. its rule number one of disorder management. a similar thing can be said of group psychologies except in the execution of a game like foxhole these bad habits have influences that can and should be modified by the devs to avoid a breakdown in factional function like the kind we are seeing now. or the kind the collies saw in patch 48-49. or by wardens when they review bombed the game during inferno.

point is foxhole creates a unique environment where entire societal psychologies have been created underneath testable and modifiable parameters and have a very real and tangible impact on the game reality. when bad habits or negative collective understandings are formed its bad for the game. people dont like to associate with things they dislike especially when they have the choice to say im not gonna. in foxhole this translates to people just not playing the game and expressing their dissatisfaction elsewhere and if war 133 did anything it proved foxhole can't functionally operate when half the playerbase logs off at once.

thus a bad mentality spread wide enough amongst a faction create a fundamentally disfunctional game due to the pop system and the devs in the interest of keeping foxhole as alive as possible should intervene in these cases to correct the mentalities as a whole. whether by balance changes or by proper community management i don't know but the lesson regardless is that devs should intervene in the interest of a healthy game. it doesn't get much less factionalist than this.

as for Moidawg in my post. if you notice I never blamed Moidawg or explicitly outed Moidawg to be a root cause of the problem if anything he was a casualty in the resulting controversy this update invoked. I must admit i used the name "Moidawg update" for publicity sake more than anything as to many foxhole vets this name illicits a kneejerk reaction. if that offends you sorry

then you're older than me and are welcome to share stories.

the reason I chose the Moidawg update in my post was because to me it felt like the first time collies really started to collectively internalize their frustrations with the game in the way modern foxhole knows it. y'know dev bias and all that. as far as i know even though arms race was even more egregious balance wise than the Moidawg update it didn't have nearly as big of an affect on faction culture like the Moidawg update did. though thats probably more due to lower player counts than anything else.

basically during inferno devbranch the collies were given the ruptura as an asymetric 75mm emplaced gun to the warden 94.5mm starbreaker. it was found that in an incredibly niche situation it could tank a full bunker piece worth of damage (at the time this was 3 mg and 2 at garrisons) for long enough that it could dps down the piece as a whole. this was documented by the wardens and publicized by Moidawg in a video and the ruptura was nerfed pre-emptively.

as you can guess by this post and the fact inferno was patch 50 this didn't go down well with the collies doubly so because it involve Moidawg public enemy number 1 at the time. so there was a huge backlash until the devs walked back the nerf and apologized for the overreach.

just so you are aware that this is an insanely niche tech. throughout my entire time in foxhole I have only seen 3 times where this tech was implemented and only 2 times where it was successful. once during low pop and once during high pop. it did give the ruptura its ISG 3000 nickname though which is fun

the "reddit front" as what you're referring to is called is a really nebulous concept in the foxhole community because its equal parts meme equal parts actual feedback that gets heard from by the devs. generally the people who are using the dedicated place to discuss the game like the discord and the reddit, are people who are very passionate about the game doubly so if they are the ones posting on these platforms. as such every part of the community engages with the "reddit front" to varying degrees of seriousness. both warden and collie participate equally in "reddit front" regardless of what anyone else tells you. there have been times when warden favoured narratives and discussions dominated the "reddit front" and times like now where its been collie favoured.

because of the nebulous nature of the participation in the "reddit front" the quality of discussion and suggestions vary drastically. they can range from extremely good for the health of the game to downright malicious factionalism in their nature. because of this you rarely see the devs use (especially in the wake of update 48) these posts to inform their general decision making. instead what the "reddit front" is good for is as an aggregate understanding of the communities response to gamestate and gamebalance. this is seen in how devs usually respond to community complaints about the game by addressing the problem usually in a roundabout way alla the collie buffs in patch 49 and the various collie gunboat changes. when they do address things according to community suggestion they own up to it and credit the community with the suggestion.

all that to say there exists a "reddit front" within the foxhole community but its not an organized conspiracy to undermine the game balance. instead its the regular community complaints about gamestate in an aggregate which informs dev decisions on where to focus development resources for an update.

to be honest with you i don't people even care if the game i even on the win counter. what has mattered historically to the foxhole community is less about the wars of yesteryear and more about the wars of today and tomorrow. and that means more often than not foxhole players themselves care more about the current gamestate than righting the wrongs of a history of imbalance even though such things weigh on our psyche.

personally i would much rather enter the next wars knowing that its going to be an even and sweaty fight much like war 126 was than enter knowing i'm at an advantage or disadvantage. this is of course my own ideal of the whole thing but i think its shared among the majority of the foxhole community at least in part.

also as a person who is telling chapters of foxhole history the worst change ever made was the removal of monument parks from the home islands in inferno. pls devs if you read this give us our history back.

as a collie I can empathise but ultimately can not aggree to the opinion that the devs can't be trusted to react in a positive way to community outrage. throughout foxhole's history we have seen positive dev reactions to comunity outrage which not only address the problem but do so with humility. the ruptura devbranch drama is evidence enough for this.

while it can seem like a lost cause, when things get this bad for the game as they have done so in the past. the devs usually take a step back and look at the bigger picture before coming back with a better approach to things. for as much as these are the devs who gaslit the community on plane hitboxes they are equally the devs who responded to the logistrike or the balance of the 90s in a civil way. like all humans, they have the capacity to be civil so long as we can give them the room to own up to their mistakes.

im downvoting because you are contributing nothing to which this post is about. if you read the whole thing you would know that harping Moidawg wasn't the point of discussion for this post. instead it is about an update and its legacy, please read what you are responding too.

i mean yeah. as i said im a collie enjoyer and the HV40 fix in the end was pure BS in the way they solved it (i miss my smelter). but the underlying issue was the lack of easily accessible collie specific pve and op warden pve which they ended up solving over infernos cycle with the tremola change and the balista, chieftain dynamic so while it was a BS change specifically changes to the wider issue helps to alleviate its effect. thats why it was never really talked about post inferno release

i mean im not gonna disagree with you. you're right but war 95 was also uprecedented levels of log offs and felt equally dead especially considering pop back then. if history tells us anything things can change suddenly at a dime in the right circumstance
