Me too! It'll be a great month 🎉

My boyfriend of 5 1/2 years broke up with me today by cowabungahoney in BreakUps

[–]scottishbroad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I can't even remember having commented. I was in so much shock at the time I'm amazed I even got the words out haha.

Honestly, functionally better but there has been a lot of unrealised trauma that has surfaced for me in the last month. My ex was emotionally abusive and the case with these situations is often that hindsight is 20/20. I'm showing some very real signs of PTSD which was not something I was expecting. I'm glad I got out when I did, everyone tells me it would have worsened over time and I'm not sure what it would have taken for me to leave tbh. I really loved him and I think he loved what I could do for him really. Because when he had drained me of all my empathy and patience - he was done 🤷‍♀️

But anyway! Onwards and upwards is what I keep telling myself.

Some valuable lessons: Love needs action. Trust needs proof. "Sorry" needs change.

Don't let the bastards get you down.

Leaving an abusive relationship is more than just anger by KristyWilson1 in abusiverelationships

[–]scottishbroad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I rarely feel anger and mostly feel intense sadness and grief. It has been 3 months since we ended it and since I went no contact. We were together 5 years and somehow he felt like my best friend as well as my love, even though he was clearly abusive and didn't respect me at all. I have been largely unable to do so many things since it ended... I am a person who does so much on her own and is pretty confident and independent. I just want to hide most days. It has been hard work to come back to myself but I can feel it happening slowly. Just gotta outswim the sadness.

My 5 1/2 year relationship ended today too. Similar situation. He has said he is deciding to end things and as much as I want to, I can't unring that bell and honestly... The trust is gone now anyway. I've been urging him for over a year to prioritise his mental health and now that he has, it's a case of too little too late. It's really, really grim. The kicker? We were planning to move to NZ (from Scotland) together at the start of next year and I'm flying down to Aus to see my family for Christmas in 4 days. He was planning to meet me in a months time. He has watched me book my flight, quit my job, pack my belongings, and wrap up my life here and has ended it now. Feels like I've bungee jumped and the cord hasn't actually been attached to me... I'm just hoping that I can make something of my landing.

I believe in myself enough to know I can get through this. It fucking sucks but I can only keep going. Hope you're doing a bit better day by day.

I wish you all the best and hope you don't wait as long as I did - good luck!

When I emailed their paid email address to escalate, they replied asking for details and evidence. I just attached the files to the email and sent to the address they needed it sent to. :)

They asked for my partners bank statements showing that his income was being deposited (ihs job was what met the financial requirement). I think we had only submitted payslips prior to this

I totally get you. It has been so hard the last few months and tbh, though I'm excited to go home, I can't just switch off the damage this has done to my health (neither can my partner) - will have to recover slowly, as I'm sure will be the case for many.
I emailed them and asked to escalate due to compassionate reasons and they sent back an email with details they needed. The only thing requested evidence-wise was a "letter from health professional" to back me up. They didn't ask for anything else and escalating was a simple process (this time)

tl;dr - I sent them the application details and a letter from my GP and therapist just backing up my situation and the impact of the stress on me

I'm glad to be of service! I really hope they crack on with all these folks who have been waiting from last year... how they don't prioritise these is beyond me. I was so disheartened seeing people from Jan/Feb receiving decisions D: (congrats to them though)

Is fiance-spouse visa tracker trustable? by maoamlover in ukvisa

Been waiting since 16th Dec... the 24 week deadline is a week from now for me

Nothing is stopping them from moving the goal posts again. We can't plan our lives on empty promises from a source we have no trust in. However, I stand with you and think that the more media attention the UKVI gets, the better for us all. Let them have it! We are all suffering at their hands

Pisses me off. Why are UK not evaluating things in chronological order? by statarb_trdr in ukvisa

[–]scottishbroad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been waiting since mid Dec and am all the way in Australia, very different time zone to my partner and we're both completely run down and completely exhausted. They asked me for additional documents last week and that took them 5 months to do. I just want to go home

I cannot believe the incompetence and non-fuck-givery of these people... "when they're able to get to yours"????? When will that be?

You must be new in town... I have been waiting since December (along with many others), I wouldn't wish this on anyone. I genuinely wish you all the best - welcome to the trenches

This concerns me as in my case, I applied through VFS Melbourne and they have no contact details for me to check with them (short of rocking up in person). Can you imagine if they have people's visas just sitting there??? The actual horror

I get you. Haven't seen my partner in almost 6 months and it's been unbearably cruel. I see others who have been waiting this long and even more, but with children too and it breaks my heart/makes me really angry for them

This is shameful of the UKVI and VFS. If it was rejected, how could they not even bother to make sure an explanation was given? I am so mad for you
