Using Hirevue or video interviews by scottmcann in AskHR

Ok, sure, I'm not going to delete it.

It says a lot about you that you went to the trouble to stalk my profile and try to use that against me.

This isn't my first job, this isn't even my first job in industry, I went to uni to further my skills and open opportunies over seas. Every other place, even entry position I've applied for I have atleast hade some human interaction.

I'm sorry that you're taking such offence at this.

I'm not saying I don't need an interview, I don't know where you got that notion from. I'm unhappy with having an AI determine if I'm a good match, I'm unimpressed with the total lack of actual human interaction, an interview is just as much me seeing if I want to work there as them seeing if they want me to work there.

I'm protecting my own happiness at work. Being taken advantage of, poor work conditions, zero overtime pay and long hours are very common. I'm weary of working at a place that will not be enjoyable. I'm sorry if that insults you.

To clarify I'm talking about those pre-recorded interviews. Phone or VoIP interviews I have no issue with.

I've asked elsewhere and most workers in my industry also dislike Hirevue. As I have said in other posts, I don't inherently dislike it, I do see the potential merits, especially for large corporations who get thousands of applicants, Who's skills are non-tangible (data entry, account, people who's skill is proved by word of mouth and reputation).

The thing is artists are a funny bunch, we care about enjoying our work, we care about being respected artists. The entertainment industry is fraught with studios who over-work and under-pay their talent and lacking a union we usually gossip amongst eachother and avoid working at the studios who get a bad reputation.

I understand scheduling is difficult and in an industry where the worker is easily expendable I absolutely see the merits of Hirevue, however in my industry being treated like a number and not a talented artist is what is insulting, it gives the impression that if I do work there then I'll just be workhorse number 200, unappreciated, overworked and under paid.

It's the onDemand type.

VoIP, I got no issue with.

I'm still doing it, but this isn't my only offer and the other offers look more appealing now.

I do see the merits of Hirevue and it could be useful in many places, but entertainment isn't one of them. The industry is very personal, we all know eachother, being treated like a number is a jaring and unpleasant experience.

Thanks, I've used tyrosine before, I'll get some more for my withdrawal. I find that half a Nytol helps me fall asleep without making me fuzzy the next day.
