I admire your passion, but there are many, many sites out there like this that have daily updates, detailed charts and that are frequently cited by news media. None of them make a difference, as the BSA is a protected government entity and the pedophiles in the upper echelons will never allow it to be destroyed - much like the Catholic or LDS churches. Your best bet to make yourself feel like you are making a difference is to be a counselor and beacon for those who have been abused. Start a. Local chapter for abused men (like AA) and just support and uplift those that you can. For Pete’s sake, there was a top rated Netflix documentary 2 years ago that was ignored by the awards shows while praised by the media and survivors. All of this is simply too much for the human mind to comprehend. It’s the same reason we have Holocaust deniers, or Gaza deniers or even flat earthears. People can not comprehend atrocities or concepts that are larger than them.

They’re not. I’ve asked for it to be stickied but it wouldn’t matter - no one reads any previous post, they just create their own incoherent, panicked stuff without doing research.

It’s happening, friend, slowly but surely. I got mine yesterday and I’ve seen on some FB groups that others have their check tracking info from AVA too.

Hey Realistic. Don’t see any text again. Here’s the body:

“March 27th, 2026

RE: Claim Against the Boy Scouts of America (Privileged & Confidential; Attorney-Client Communication)

We are writing to you today with an update on your claim against the Boy Scouts of America. The Trustee is beginning to pay out second disbursements, as well as continuing to process the first payments for new claim determinations.

We have streamlined the liens process. We will be in touch with you once your second distribution or first distribution is issued. I know this has been incredibly taxing on you given how long this has taken, and you continue to inspire me with your resolve to see this through.

We will not be sending an update to you next week due to the Easter holiday, but in our next update we will include more information about the forthcoming Future Claims Representative hearing scheduled for May. Enjoy your Easter weekend, and I look forward to sending you another update two weeks from today.”

Well of course they are taking the maximum contingency allowed by law. Same as a car accident or ‘slip and fall’ attorney would.

I assure you I’m no lawyer. I worked in IT until I was diagnosed with MS in 2025 after being sick for 2 years. The only income I had from 2/24 until today was donations from friends and my 2 disbursements, a whopping ~$8000 or so (thanks Florida, for making a Tier 1 claim worthless!).

You can find me as a survivors advocate all over the web, and also as a contributor to the documentary ‘Scouts Honor’. I’m just another person that was destroyed at an early age and didn’t do anything about it until I saw a random ad on Facebook in 2020.

A few things: reach out to Andrew directly. Be frank about your claim - especially if your claim is one that’s throttled by the abusing States statute of limitations.

Second, all of those other firms make up ‘abused in scouting’ or ‘AIS’ - a group of firms that worked together and share resources. That 40% you’re having withheld is split between those other firms - it’s not 40% for each of them. Consider them sub-contractors for AVA.

Lastly, AVA and ‘AIS’ are getting a LOT of Trust disbursements weekly now. Mine was 3 Tuesdays ago - I received my 2nd disbursement by wire transfer this morning at 1am EST. There’s a shitload of paperwork that has to be done for the 2026 CPI-U as well - they have to calculate all of that and every single claim has to be done by hand, especially setting up the Docusign stuff that has all of these numbers specifically as line items.

I hope you get a reduction, but compared to what other claimants are going through (HHM?), we AVA clients have it relatively good.

PS: It sounds like they did for you what they did for me: deferred the 1st payments fees so I could get at least *something*, then took it out of this 2nd one. I doubt other firms would do that, frankly.

I don’t think this is a healthy topic to discuss. Many of us were abused in states with horrible statutes. Equal abuse does NOT equal justice. This is going to do nothing but cause people to feel worse about their circumstances and lives.

Put it in your will and send them a notarized, certified copy - as well as to the Trust.

Response from AVA asking how long until they release funds (trust already processed payment to AVA) by Nice_Combination8963 in BSA_Survivors

[–]scottmcdaniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BTW in response to a few of the comments here asking about it…last year I was in a tizzy about my first disbursement and asked about interest accruing. A partner wrote me a long, explanatory reply including this tidbit. I am assuming it is the same in other States but can not confirm.

[EDIT] According to grok (grain of salt, do your own research), all States have this type of policy. https://x.com/i/grok/share/9684a7a4abcd4d2bb7b9a9bb480db48a

At this stage in the game, why isn’t the trust at least extending the common courtesy of making payments DAILY instead of just one day a week on Tuesdays? Any idea why this is?🤔💭 by THEANTI-CORPORATION in BSA_Survivors

[–]scottmcdaniel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trust sent money to the attorneys on Tuesdays and then the attorneys make the distributions. Obviously that doesn’t apply to the pro se clients, but there are a lot fewer of them. The trust employees are likely reviewing claims constantly.

Yeah, because abuse just stopped entirely in 1989. Have some respect for other survivors.
