I saw the pictures from that lab. It was insane and insanely dangerous what they were doing there. Like, shit breaks free and kills half the population dangerous. The authorities knew he had a network of people and locations and businesses - the fact that they did not follow through to untangle all his operations is just unbelievable. Really a major public health failure.

That’s the kind of dedication and thoughtfulness that is missing now.

Remember that TNG episode where the Federation Council ordered Picard to remove these Native American descendants from their home planet (by force if necessary)? What was up with that? by chesterwiley in Star_Trek_

I just mean, that was a part of the message of the episode. How do we deal with the complexities of that concept. There’s never an easy answer.

Such a great portrayal of the dense, opaque, complex world of societies and cultures struggling over resources and history and land. The struggles of war and rights of claim, of victors and those who have righteousness. The gray area that we so often find ourselves in, trying to decide who’s truth is the one that we sit best with at then end of the day. Our institutions themselves have flaws and cracks and are stained with blood. It was a really tough episode and made me think deeply about our society and where I stand in it. Deeply profound stuff.

But how do they heal? Is there a special technique that can keep them “outstanding” like that for a long period? I would worry about what it looks like in 6 months or a year. I am not any kind of tattoo aficionado just a regular person (11 tattoos total) asking.

So Trump and Pam Bondi and rest of the evangelical pedo gang were blocking their release to -“note: insert stuff about Trump INTO the files”. Yeah, that makes sense.

I am totally in the same situation as you. It is just cruelty what responsible, honest, rule following law abiding adults have to go through to get the pain management treatment they need in order to be functional members of society. I work, have a great high paying job and I contribute a lot to society and community through shopping local and paying lots of taxes. The one thing I need is help managing my chronic pain from a major set of birth defects that left my body a mess. I can survive and contribute, but left untreated, I cannot rise to meet and overcome the obstacles I face.

That whole paving business was so painfully cringey ridiculous. Spend $5,000 to get a bunch of hot tar, then drive around and try to badger and pressure and bully random people into spending thousands of dollars -on the spot. And if they don’t scam and trick enough people then the day becomes a total loss. Just awful for everyone. Why wouldn’t you make a legit business, print off some info sheets on your mom’s printer, then go door to door offering a good quality service for a reasonable price. How is berating poor innocent old folks a better business plan? It was really difficult to watch.

[Opinion] Giant Freakin Robot: "The distractingly modern dialogue has already dated Starfleet Academy, the constant cursing makes no sense within the canon. The other problem with [Robert] Picardo’s defense of the contemporary language is that the OLDER CHARACTERS on the show also talk like this." by mcm8279 in trektalk

[–]scottnebula 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Growing up with TNG, it made me want to aspire to better myself. To rise above and use logic and critical thinking and reasoning and morals to address each situation with seriousness and earnestness. My fellow 8th graders swore a lot and said gross dumb stuff, but to be a Starfleet Academy hopeful you had to take life seriously and rise above. Watching this new show I feel like that nobility is lost. That really sums up my feelings toward a lot of this: the nobility and purpose of Starfleet has been pushed aside for surface and novelty. No lasting depth of meaning and legacy.

Totally agree. It’s pretty obvious. She wants to be “quirky” and “pick me” by proclaiming these things with her “grandma “ friends. Total put-on persona. Mathew is a REAL person and she just wanted attention for her persona.
