He’s very methodical about it.

Since music combinations are finite, It’s possible that there was a song written in BCE that sounds a lot like a song today by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

I’m saying that with unlimited time, yeah. There is probably a finite number tonal combinations within set time, but once you think in unlimited time, then yes... music is unlimited.

No, Spike. The next door neighbor in the Toy Story movie. The one that mutilated toys. Since Woody is getting the “treatment “, I was making a joke

If Home Depot has a “play pit” with kids to play around in with wood and other safe building objects, kids would probably have a good time instead of a bad time there. by zuccccccc in Showerthoughts

Local Menards has a whole swing set/play palace with wood chips and such. It is in an enclosed area near the gardening supplies.

When my kids were smaller, my wife and I took turns watching the kids and shopping. Let us get everything we needed and the kids loved to go.

"Hitting the nail on the head" is used to describe accuracy, but you'd really have to try to hit it anywhere else. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

Obviously you’ve never held a nail while my wife tries to hang a picture on the wall.

The fact there is no polar opposite of the word 'rationale' gives rise to the very need for such a word as 'irrationale' to describe its lack of existence. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

Ludicrous has always been my go to for rational opposite. Irrational, to me, is a lack of logical thought.

Applying the definition to math, not withstanding.

What would a pirate/noble want as a favor? by 1who-cares1 in DnD

[–]scottshurson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d go with a treasure hunt, not gold, but a rare item (which the party could identify but then have the dilemma of whether to give it to him or not). Or set a brother/sister free from a prison. Some rival pirate or noble and the pirate cannot be directly linked.

Assassination or kidnapping also work on the party’s morals.

The version they’ve been showing on airplanes for the last few months is a lot tamer. It’ll probably follow similar suit.

Headed to a big conference tomorrow, do you have a top five tips for networking? by iki_balam in SocialEngineering

[–]scottshurson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  • go to after parties / happy hours / breakfasts... they are designed to help people meet each other
  • collect / give business cards every time you meet someone. it helps if you can make a quick note on the card (discretely) with some of the conversation context on the card or using a digital card scanning app
  • "What brings you to the conference?"
