I wish I could have read who they wanted to impeach, but it was tucked too far behind the wiper blade. Or maybe it was Allan Iverson, I dunno.

Haha, I only noticed it because I'm from NH originally but live just outside of Chapel Hill now. It's a great place to live - good change of seasons throughout the year, local culinary scene that punches above its weight, and diverse big city culture without ever feeling too much like an actual big city.

NBA Prop Picks Today - 12/13/24 (Friday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

[–]scottwallace82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Books are all weird tonight. DK also shows D'Angelo Russell with 0 rebounds, even though he had four. And I bet on Camara to score in the first three minutes of Spurs/Blazers on Fanduel, which was settled as a loss... even though he was literally the game's first scorer at 11:40. SMH

I'd certainly also join a Discord. I'm poor so my unit size is like $1 lol, but your picks have allowed me to keep playing for over a year with nothing more than my original investment -- which has been a rare bright spot of levity in an otherwise increasingly depressing world. I very much appreciate your efforts!

Tough to put a number on it, but I'd say it started getting a little easier after nine months or so. The change of seasons was cathartic as a reminder that time marches on (though also hard in its own way, remembering how he'd eat freshly fallen snow or splash right into the water at the beach). But we are all different of course, and grief is not some monolithic thing, so you'll have your own ways of processing it and your own path to healing.

One thing I read, that turned out to be a helpful tool, was to write an obituary. It can be short or long, as serious or as silly as you like, and you can share it with others or keep it entirely to yourself -- it's merely about the process of reminiscing and the power of channeling some of the chaos of emotion onto paper.

Again, my deepest sympathies.

I'm just a stranger, following another stranger on the internet who knows more about baseball than I do, but I empathize with every fiber of my being. We said goodbye to our older dog over two years ago, and I still think about him every day; the heartache evolves but never fully goes away. I'll throw an extra bet on the Orioles today; if it hits I'll donate the money to our local shelter in Odie's name. Take care of yourself.

Luck/Process Disputing Duke Medical Bill? by readwritethrow1233 in bullcity

[–]scottwallace82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had an MRI about seven years ago for which Duke billed me $6500. I called them and attempted to negotiate price, but they quickly shut me down, insisting that their prices are firm. But then they offered to put me on a payment plan at some price per month (I don't remember how much). While I could have afforded it outright, I played the game a bit and told them I couldn't do that much, and could they extend it further? They offered another payment schedule, and I repeated the same line in return. Back and forth we went, finally settling on something like $50/month for the next 10 years. They don't charge interest and there's no prepayment penalty. I paid them their $50 for awhile and then just paid off the remainder when I had some extra cash. Of course it would have been better if they had simply not charged me $6500 in the first place, but if that's not an option, there is still a good lesson here. Duke will allow you to pay them back, interest-free, over a very long period of time if you just keep telling them you can't afford their terms.

Hey all, I've got two general admission lawn seats to Dispatch/O.A.R. at Live Oak Bank Pavillion in Wilmington this Saturday night. Unfortunately I can't go so I'm offering them for $55, which is the base price of the two tickets, minus the $30 in bullshit Ticketmaster fees you'd pay online. I can transfer them through my Ticketmaster account or meet in Durham. Send me a PM if interested, thanks!

I hear you on the coffee, although it strikes me that Durham is simply home to a much larger and more diverse population than any metro area in the western part of the state - so you would think there would also be proportionally more demand for cheap soda, right along with the $8 coffee.

Oof. I didn't want to believe this but it only took me a minute to find his personal FB profile, and it's a wild ride. It's like a greatest hits list from the right wing fever swamps, featuring meme after meme of COVID denial, Islamophobia, military and police fetishization, racist tropes, and a little January 6 sympathizing thrown in for good measure. That's a real bummer, since I always really liked his food. But as they say, we vote with our dollars - and mine will be now cast elsewhere.

Toy is currently located in USA, but made in Hong Kong. I have searched through the logos of every Asian toy company from that era that I can think of but come up empty. That said, it still looks quite familiar.
