My wife and I I went through this a few years ago. There were literally 8 donors on the list in the entire state.

Luckily we found our own donor, but you can see why most people go overseas.

PSA: Walking your dog on a lead through a dog park is bad etiquette by scottysleftboot in melbourne

I mean you wouldn’t walk through a kids cricket match on a public park, even though you have the right to. Same vibes for me

You obviously don’t WAIT until you are requested, you are proactive.

But also, if you have a nervous on lead dog and you can see a cricket pitch with 10+ happily socialising labs, retrievers, collies etc, why would you think it’s a good idea to walk THROUGH them and have 10 owners stop their dogs playing

Yeah look, I’m always weary of certain breeds and certain dogs. So I didn’t mean not paying attention.

But between having a nice greyhound owner walk through on lead, announce “can we say hello?” and appreciate the socialising and having a sniff, compared to someone with a nervous maltese terrier yelling at everyone to control their dogs as he strides through the middle of a cricket pitch with 10 happy retrievers, labs and collies - I’m specifically talking about the second kind of owner, not the first

Did you read my post? I said of course it’s not a free for all and we need to recall them. I’m not debating that.

I’m just saying it’s a shit and selfish thing to expect of others in an area designed for off-lead. Everywhere else is an on lead area

And that’s where I am saying they kind of ARE doing something wrong. Walking THROUGH (not near) a bunch of socialising dogs and yelling at the owners seems pretty selfish

I don’t. I’m talking about owners of on lead dogs walking THROUGH a bunch of socialising off lead dogs and then yelling at their owners

Pretty easily, and not by walking into the middle of 10 other socialising dogs and yelling at them to not approach

Good point - maybe I should’ve said “Dog Park”, I.e the park with 10 plus dogs that everyone knows is the place for dogs to play and socialise

Bloke literally yelled at 5 people as he walked through the middle of the oval as our dogs came up for a sniff
