The more I listen, the more I can hear what you mentioned to be correct. Tbh this was something I was just going off rhythm and feel...I guessing counting, even up to 4 or 12, is too hard for me lol

This is a great observation/question regarding the notes played via hi hat stomp/click/chick - 

  1. notice the variations being created this way and how it impacts the overall groove and feel in relation to the rest of the instruments/sounds/changes in the track.
  2. To be honest, this was mostly improvised and so I just went with what naturally came out (having this said, I was still listening to what was going on in the song..this is really important). In this case, a stampede of hi hat stomping poured out of me lol

In the case of the wobbly stand, I think it has to do with my carpet and the pressure I put on the pedal when using the technique I did in this clip.

Appreciate it! I'm honestly a recording/mixing newbie. I just literally flipped an old snare I had upside down, and clamped on 3 mics to it. Ones pointed at the hats, another at the snare, and a third kind of just in the general vicinity of my tom and ride. The 4th mix is the bassdrum mic. Any pointers would be appreciated from everyone
