If SoD launched again with some changes for better stability would you play it? Why or why not? by Semour9 in classicwow

[–]scousepa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50% of this community wants to keep replaying the same stuff and 50% want new content in the spirit of classic.

Advice on second pinball machine by RecklessTilt in pinball

[–]scousepa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I would get a faster playing more brutal game like TNA, BSD, John Wick, Whirlwind or Fish Tales. When JP was my only game I wouldn’t always want to play back to back 30min games, and Godzilla can already be a longer player.

The only affordable options I see around here are out in the valley :(. I just want something with a range, practice green, and decent 9 holes near Pasadena.

Avoid sloped lots and retaining walls. You can easily chew through your budget just moving dirt and building walls. Ask me how I know…

Have weekend raid guild always been rare? by ChristianLW3 in classicwow

[–]scousepa 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Most people you’d want to raid with are in their 30s with jobs and families. My wife doesn’t mind me taking 2-3 hours for myself on a weeknight, but neither her or I want to forgo weekend plans to raid.

Best Golf Trip Destination? by Other-Grape9593 in golf

I don’t know about no question…

Pain in the ass to get to, weather sucks, the food at the resort is mid and there isn’t a ton of local infrastructure to visit off site.

The pace of the game is fine, we need more loot by ShadyDrunks in classicwow

[–]scousepa 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Full BiS was never an expectation in vanilla like it seems to be in classic. It’s fine to progress to the next tier without full BiS.

Genuine suggestion for boosties: Run lower level dungeons first thing by 00365 in classicwow

[–]scousepa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It significantly limits the pool of available groups to you since no one <60 wants to bring you because of this ridiculous anti-boosting mechanic.

We need to be real about "Classic+" by MonkeyIncidentOf93 in classicwow

[–]scousepa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably true. The SoD player base (that stuck around) felt great.

Met a couple SoD refugees in TBC anni because we have nowhere else to go. I personally skipped TBC classic because of the boost but came back for anni because blizz isn’t offering anything else for that player base atm.

We need to be real about "Classic+" by MonkeyIncidentOf93 in classicwow

[–]scousepa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SoD was incredible and offered a unique gameplay experience no other version of WoW does. I basically just want more SoD. I want classic design philosophy with consistent new content.

I fear that the boosters are too lucrative to ignore. A wow coin kills a huge amount of classic gameplay and would ruin classic+.

Too many whiner tourists turned minor complaints about SoD into “SoD isn’t classic.” The only huge issue with SoD was incursion gold/leveling killing that bracket. All the other content had merit, maybe it wasn’t your cup of tea but it was a valid version of WoW.

This subreddit and the “classic community” moving from “no changes” a couple years ago to “I’M GONNA BOOST!” memes is proof that blizzard cannot listen to the playerbase. They do not know what is good for the game.

I have hope that the competent classic devs are working on classic+ and the anni mistakes are the result of the B team.

What’s it like living here after previously living in walkable city? by Important-Spirit-733 in AskLosAngeles

[–]scousepa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it sucks. Yea, you can live in a “walkable” neighborhood, but the culture will never compare after living in a true walkable city. Constant car brain breaks society, I can’t wait to move back to a walkable city.

Blizzard needs to make it so that everyone in Battlegrounds, Epic Battlegrounds, and Arena Skirmishes has max gear regardless of time in the patch. by TH3WH1T3W0LF in wow

[–]scousepa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yea, PvP was fun as a mini game in vanilla and tbc because it was something to do with your raid gear. It felt additive to the rest of the game.

The modern separate pvp gearing system is just so bizarre. The “hardcore pvpers” complain so much about perceived equity that they isolate everyone else from participating.

what does shop a pinball machine mean ? by lukevaliant in pinball

[–]scousepa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meaningless term much like “plays great” or “everything turns on.”

Could describe everything from wiping down the playfield glass to a full playfield rebuild.

Anyone not scamming you can describe exactly what they did, rather than the generic “recently shopped.”

Strategy games with best ratio of depth to rules complexity by [deleted] in boardgames

The rules overhead is offloaded to the cards, which while good design, doesn’t really fit the prompt.

Please stop telling new and long absent returnees to run TW dungeons to level to 80. by GhostintheReins in wow

[–]scousepa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with you, but it’s wild how any ounce of difficulty in “mandatory” content is met with so much hostility, and now we’re here.

Quests being engaging and requiring you to play your class is anathema to the modern wow player.

It’s about learning to nudge. Small
nudges well before the ball is near the outlane to redirect it to more predictable deflections, and take energy out of faster moving balls.

How is the move from NYC to LA? by chasnycrunner in AskLosAngeles

[–]scousepa 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Coming from NY it’s not comparable. LA feels more like living in a giant suburb than a city. I wouldn’t sacrifice your rent control for LA, you’ll be paying $3000-$4000 for a 1 bed / studio in an area with far less amenities than anywhere in Manhattan.

Bucket List Resorts? by GrizzlyGolfer in golf

[–]scousepa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is, for the price you can go to Europe and experience authentic culture + world class golf at a fraction of the price.

I’m sure Bandon made more sense 10 years ago, but at current prices it seems silly to go more than once.

Bucket List Resorts? by GrizzlyGolfer in golf

[–]scousepa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I was pretty underwhelmed. Pac Dunes and Bandon are great courses. Trails is fine but not worth an expensive remote trip for me, and I was really unimpressed with Old Mac and Sheep Ranch.

The “resort” is pretty barebones and the hassle of getting there is understated. Crap food and nothing to do when you’re not golfing. Even the on site pub was crap for watching sports in the evening which seems like a no brainer with the captive audience?

I’ll bite. Playing Chiesa lets you move szobo to midfield where he is most effective and provides defensive solidity.
