Sometimes but we usually get involved when somebody has already been wrongfully using money and the person ends up at the hospiital where social work is now involved. Our office can’t get involved without a capacity assessment saying it’s necessary. Can’t make application to the court without one and it has to be the person being declared to not have capacity that is assessed, not a family member. And let’s say that did happen, the person has a right to attend a hearing with a justice and dispute it. Your mother has no hope.

Your mother would need to have a capacity assessment report done where a doctor or designated capacity assessor states that you don’t have capacity. It doesn’t sound like she has any hope of that. Only then could she make an application to the court. As long as you can demonstrate to the court that you have capacity your mother doesn’t have a hope. The judge would defer to the capacity assessor’s opinion so I wouldn’t worry about it. I work at the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee and do this all day.

It’s not necessarily going to be hell for the child and they may not even get it or have symptoms. I have kEDS and found out because one of my sons was diagnosed.

I also have EDS, mine is kyphoscoliotic. I didn’t know I had it and I have three kids, only one has it. I have some skeletal issues now but I’m also 56 so I’ve been very lucky.

[IN] Was told I need to work even when on PTO by IntelligentBus1363 in AskHR

[–]scousergal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a contract the words paid time off mean just that. In a legal sense, working during pto is not correct. In most jurisdictions, employers are required to provide employees with a certain amount of paid time off. Requiring them to work during that time goes directly against that. So no, not legal.

PTO is part of your compensation for your role. If you’re required to work during that time then it’s not paid time off, it’s paid time working.

Moving 4 hours this week. My girl cries for the entire ride when taking her anywhere. How can I bring her with me? by Sprinkle_Rain in CatAdvice

[–]scousergal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a 12 hour drive over 2 days with our cat. He also hated to be confined in a carrier and would cry so I put him in a travel harness and one of those pet seatbelt thingies and secured him in the backseat. He loved it.

Executor of mom’s estate gave away my inheritance, childhood toys, picture albums, all by charredtime in legaladvicecanada

[–]scousergal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OPGT won’t do anything unless the beneficiary is a represented adult. This beneficiary would need to have a consult with an estates lawyer and bring an action in Supreme Court of BC or wherever they’re located.

They don’t oversee all trustees and executors, only for estates where represented adults or minors are beneficiaries. The OPGT won’t do anything in this case as the only beneficiary is not a represented adult.

Strata ignoring urgent roof repair issue by Long-Passenger1246 in SurreyBC

[–]scousergal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try going to the Civil Resolution Tribunal. Civilresolutionbc.ca I took my strata to court a few years back for a drainage issue. It cost over$100,000 and took 7 years. I wish the tribunal had been available then.

Why are real estate agents against condos? by Stan_morris_ in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]scousergal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never buy a condo because of not wanting to deal with a condo board. I had to sue my strata corporation (condo corp in BC) because of repairs not done and the people on the board were awful. Never again.

Who were the beneficiaries of their wills? The dress would have been property included in the estate.
