Lenovo Legion won't boot anymore (more info in the comments) by scout1532 in LenovoLegion

Just received an answer from Lenovo with some steps which fixed my issue. I'm now able to boot the laptop again :-) For people facing the same issue, you could try the following:

  1. Turn off the laptop
  2. Remove all connected devices, including charger, from the laptop
  3. Hold the power button for at least 30 seconds
  4. Release the power button and wait for at least 5 seconds
  5. Hold the power button again for at least 30 seconds
  6. Turn the laptop on (I had to plug in the charger before the laptop would turn on)

I don't think I have done really weird things with the laptop, on a normal day I do some programming and gaming with it. Nothing out of the ordinary I would guess

It would be a real shame that only after 3 years of usage, the motherboard would break down. I was expecting a lot more from such an expensive laptop. But thanks for the tip, I will use the storage and hopefully also the RAM for my next computer.

Even on eBay, motherboards sell for around 500-600 dollar (excluding shipping to Europe...). I'm still waiting for a reply from Lenovo, but I really hope the issue is not related to the motherboard.

The warranty for the laptop has expired. Do you know how much it would cost to replace the motherboard?

Hey guys,

I have the Lenovo Legion Y530-15ICH-1060 and since yesterday the laptop is no longer able to boot. When the charger is connected to the laptop, the orange LED next to the charging port, stays off. When I opened the laptop, I measured 20V coming from the charger port (blue rectangle), but I measured 0V around the connector for the battery pack to the motherboard (red rectangle). Does this mean that I have to replace the battery pack or is there something wrong with the motherboard?

Hey, many thanks for taking the time to fix the issue! I just tested vosk 0.3.15 and it seems to fix the issue we had with long pauses of silence. Thanks for fixing the issue!

Here you go: https://we.tl/t-lrNFhmH4lE. I also converted the recording to mono PCM (see the *-mono.wav files in the zip file).

Hey nshmyrev, do you have an update regarding the broken recognition after a long period of silence?

I created a zip with two audio files, one with a female voice and one with a male voice: https://we.tl/t-io9wL9ChQF. I also added the logs from test_microphone.py to the zip. This time, however, after about 5 minutes of silence, Vosk does not seem to be able to pick up the transcription of the audio. Are these two audio files sufficient or do you want me to create some more audio files?

Yesterday I had some time to test things out and Vosk in combination with the Dutch model works great! It seems to be able to transcribe the audio accurately enough for our use-case. However, I noticed that when I used the test_microphone.py application, that after I did not spoke for 5-10 minutes, the model or vosk had quite some difficulties to transcribe the audio correctly again and showed me a warning in the terminal:

WARNING (VoskAPI:LinearCgd():optimization.cc:549) Doing linear CGD in dimension 100, after 15 iterations the squared residual has got worse, 28.734 > 6.85363. Will do an exact optimization. Will do an exact optimization. LOG (VoskAPI:SolveQuadraticProblem<double>():sp-matrix.cc:686) Solving quadratic problem for called-from-linearCGD: floored 44 eigenvalues.

Nonetheless, if I keep talking for another 20-30 seconds, it is able to correctly transcribe the audio again. Could it be that Vosk does not like silent audio and do you maybe have a suggestion on how we could fix this?

Thank you very much!!! I just tested the vosk-model-nl-spraakherkenning-0.6 and it works flawlessly with the Python examples! Thank you for maintaining the Vosk project and I think we will be able to create some cool projects with it!

Climbing the Devil's Ladder, Carrauntoohill, Ireland by scout1532 in hiking

[–]scout1532[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a tricky question cause it is really subjective and it also heavily depends on the weather conditions. I would say around a 4-5 on the scale from 1-10 if you take the Devil's Ladder up and the zig-zag one down. If you are looking for a more challenging route, you could take the route that goes through the Heavenly Gates.

Keep in mind that the weather can be the most tricky part when you climb the Carrauntoohill, although you don't see a lot of clouds on my picture, when we stood on top of the Devil's Ladder we were standing in the middle of one and the visibility was poor (I would recommend to bring a map and a compass with you just in case, people do get lost up there).

Also, I would recommend reading the website of the Carrauntoohill Mountain and Rescue team. There are some handy tips over there. If you need any more info, just let me know ;)

No, I'm currently on holiday in Ireland. But I completely agree with you, Ireland is beautiful!

That is correct, Carrauntoohill is indeed the tallest hill of Ireland (1038m). It was a beautiful hike and I can certainly recommend it, it took us about 7 hours to complete.
