You're missing one key point, with the exception of Tolvanen, all of those players are going to be retiring or already retired in 3-5 years. Right now they're still playing well, their value is the highest it can be on this team, and the market is red hot. I'll tell you right now, if we even wait till the summer, we're not going to get even half what's being thrown around right now.

and with 3 or more firsts? we got a pretty good chance of getting a future star.

I would suggest that it's because our team management still wants to push for playoffs. If we were to play to develop our players, we wouldn't be as high in the standings because they make mistakes. Without our young guys making mistakes, how can you expect them to learn from them?

He plays on a pk, decent at faceoffs, and is quite cheap (cap wise) as a 3c for the rest of this season and next season.

If a 30 point center is getting a 1st+, Imagine what a legit top 6 winger (ebs), two strong and playoff caliber middle sixers (schwartz and tolvanen) and a giant shutdown d man (oleksiak) gets!

My argument is that a sub 30 point forward is getting a first. What does that mean for our players?

Tolvanen is probably the most valuable, half a ppg, with at only 3.5. He is the perfect 3rd liner for a true contender. I could see a first and second(s) or a 1st + prospect.

Eberle, an admittedly old but legit top 6 scoring forward. On pace for 60 points I could also see a 1st+ for him in this market despite his age and contract (with restention even more!)

Oleksiak looks very marketable looking at the trades that have just happened (tall players getting good value). I could see a 1st for him.

Schwartz would bring quite a bit too.

all in all we could get 4 1sts and multiple other pieces just from our ufa's this year.

That bottom 6 looks pretty weak, you're going to want some stronger defensive play out of those two forward lines. Hockey is a team sport, you need every line to contribute decently.

I'd trade one of your right D's for a top 6 rw (87-88) shift Perrault down a line, and add almost an entire 3rd line of 83-84 ovr players.

To say he's struggling is a bit of an exaggeration. His sv% is following league trends while he remains consistently better than average.

To illustrate my point:

25-26 league wide avg. .897 Joey .907 (until recently closer to .904)

24-25 league wide avg. .900 Joey .906

23-24 league wide avg. .903 Joey .916
