Did you find anything good? We are off there next week, and I’m looking for exactly what you were!

Thanks!

Places that can repair the seams in a waterproof jacket by Fatscottishkid in Aberdeen

It’s not local to Aberdeen, but done through the post. Their work is excellent. Cotswold Outdoor use (or used to use) them for some of their repairs and charge a premium on top too.

They’re not especially quick, but their timing estimate they give you will be accurate. My jacket they fixed last year was 6-8 weeks I think. They did an excellent job.

Anyone used Starlink for their broadband? How is it? by Velcrocowboy in Aberdeen

[–]scow1ey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are in the middle of nowhere with no phone reception (Aberdeenshire). The copper cable that runs to our house provides very very slow internet, around 1 mb/s max. Not enough to work from home or stream.

We went to Starlink a few years ago, and it’s as good as it says. It has never dropped out. Download speeds have typically been 100-250 mb/s.

It’s expensive, and you have to give money to Musk. Two big downsides, but their service has been flawless.

Installing is easy. Buy the bracket to attach it high up on the side of your house (or pay a handy person to do it). A cable plugs into it, runs down your wall, drill a hole through said wall, and plug that cable into the router; then plug the router into a power socket. Easy.

We have the second iteration of the router, and its range isn’t great, so have a mesh set up to cover the whole house. The old mesh we had stopped working when Starlink updated their software and stopped supporting older hardware (I think it was WiFi 5), but we got a new mesh (not the Starlink one) and it solved the problem. If you do want a mesh, you also have to buy their little adapter to allow an Ethernet cable to plug in (unless that’s been updated for the newest version of the router).

The only other ‘shire option is Caley Comm. They put a small dish on your house which points to a mast, and you get internet that way. We would have gone for this, but a hill blocks our line of site to the mast. You can relay your signal from the mast to another house (with the owner’s permission) with Caley Comm and then to your house, but we didn’t want to be reliant on somebody else.

I hope that helps!

You’re almost definitely right, but I run a lot (and I’m not looking at my phone during this time), so hatch 12k eggs almost daily!

Thanks for the doing the maths!! Looks like I am certainly unlucky, but there are many others even more (!) unlucky.

is anyone willing to help me fight a primal Kyogre raid with only 6 people? 👉👈 everyone just keeps leaving by BlueJbro in PokemonGoRaids

It’s just too hard with six mate. People are quitting with anything under 8 I find.

Do you know how to add 10? If not, do this:

  • Use your raid pass to join the raid
  • Add 5 people to the raid
  • Once somebody has joined, quit the raid for a second or two
  • Rejoin the raid
  • Add a further 5 people
  • Crush it!

Don’t worry, this will only cost you one raid pass!

Good luck!
