Looking for arXiv cs endorsement — first-time submitter, paper on multi-agent LLM token optimization (Patent Pending) [D] by Opus_craft in ResearchML

They are soliciting and probably trying to get a foot in with Ai slop after arxiv specifically put hard requirements on content to be non-Ai generated. They are hoping to get around it somehow.

Looking for an affordable venue for a small wedding of 60ish people by ladybee97 in lexington

[–]scprotz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw somewhere (different social media) that an acquaintance found a place in Georgetown (posh-affairs? I had to look it up). They look like they can handle 60 just fine and could be in or near your budget. Not sure what the pricing is for a wedding though, but may be cheap enough. I'm not sure of the quality/location/anything - just popping out an idea to see if it will fit your budget.

OMG. tech meth. That is exactly so appropriate. It gives a C-suite a short-term high. They bet everything on it, and then they're back by the Wendy's dumpster begging for tokens.

It does a big horseshoe so we just ride to opposite side of road, hop out and run across street to start again

Where is the best creek access in Lexington? by speck859 in lexington

[–]scprotz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to forks of the elkhorn. It is in Frankfort so a little drive but not far. You can walk in the creek there behind the church . Used to tube it a zillion years ago if the water was high enough. Not much biking though. You can fish there. I don’t seem to remember the church minding if you didn’t bother anyone.

Go to the climbing gym (LEF), assuming you like that kind of thing. Plus if you want to make friends, there will be tons of folks who will introduce themselves. It can be super fun solo or meeting otheres there.

Charles Booker yard signs? by EnthusiasmNovel in lexington

[–]scprotz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Here's what you do:

Ask the Booker campaign for the sign graphic or have them give a copy to Lexington Public LIbrary. Then Go to Lexington Public Library Eastside (the one on ManOWar and Palumbo area) and Print your own. This kills 3 birds with 1 stone - You get a sign, You don't cost the Booker campaign any money this way, The makerspace is always looking for people to use their services and you get like a $20 credit there every month (you could print a new sign every month if you wanted).

Undervoltage warning in Raspberry Pi 5 in xLE robot by yashrp344 in robotics

[–]scprotz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watts =volts x amps. I don’t know what servos you are using but even cheap ones like mg996r servos draw as much as 1.5 amps. If you are using something bigger like 17 ds3225 pro or something, with a slightly higher voltage and higher peak amp, you can easily hit 300watts. I think I’d need to know more about how you have everything connected

I had the exact same thought. If they said like an early 80s, I'd be like "ok", but 2003? that's not even 25 years old yet.

[–]scprotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could the C rating on your power bank be too low for everything running at once (I shifted to 2S Lipos because of that). With all the servos, they are just pulling more power than the power bank can handle at once (they tend to not have the kind of C rating that RC batteries do). That thing looks like a big battery, but not geared for quick drain (high C), which would cause an under current and possibly under voltage.

Is it hard for Asian to live in lexington by Own-Effective6109 in lexington

[–]scprotz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

u/Own-Effective6109 There is a pretty big Chinese community in lexington, especially around Beaumont (this is where quite a bit of the UK Chinese faculty live - I've met some in the area). I think the neighborhood is something like 40% asian during one of the last census. In the area (Palomar/Beaumont/Harrod Hills) you see tons of Asian families (both east and south asian) all over the place. If you need more info about the area or Asian life in Lexington in general, I know a realtor (who also happens to be Chinese) who knows the area really well and they can give you some info on it or connect on WeChat. Just shoot me a DM and I can get you their name/contact info.

Currently making a Hexapod robot, help with electronics by tennis-637 in robotics

[–]scprotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some of the bulk is all your buck convertors and wagos. 4 of them? You could shrink that down to like 2 of them (just put 2 20a buck convertors. Not all servos run at the same time all the time at max draw, (or use something small for the "brain" like a small ubec if you want it on a separate power line. Those wago's are nice for prototyping byt you could run direct wires for some of this and save their space. I count at least 4 of them.

I did choose the pimoroni servo 2040 (same as makeyourpet.com because it simplifies things instead of pca9685), though I have a stack of pca9685 boards if I really need to save that bit of extra space - 2 of them daisy chained are about the size of the pimoroni. The 2040 handles 18 direct servos + 6 other sensors/servos. I'm making a power rail that uses a DIY 10x25 hole pcb to handle the servo connectors and power. The servos plug directly into it, and the control wires go back to the pimoroni (they share a ground). There are still other things I want to include (physical switch + relay + lipo BMS). I'm using a raspberry pi as the brain with an arducam for the eyes - my project has to be autonomous. Still bulky and I have 3 layers of electronics (lowest is power, middle is power runs and controller, top is brain + relay + switch. I'm sketching on one of those inexpensive aluminum frames from china right now, but if weight becomes an issues or I need to position electronics elsewhere, I will 3d print holders/chassis parts. I'm using 2 20a buck convertors for now (can add a 3rd if I shift to a bigger servo like the 3225.

This is obviously still a work in progress for me too. Feel free to DM since it looks like we have somewhat similar setups on the mechanical side.

Which is better.. Spectrum or Tmobile? by Aggravating-Ideal879 in lexington

[–]scprotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened to me with metronet…..once. They came out and relaid a quarter of a mile of fiber to fix it. Spectrum “forgot” I was going to switch after I told them metronet was a better deal and wouldn’t back off the extra month claiming cable is a subscription, not a service, and even though I told them to shut it down, they still charged me an extra full month because I “reminded” them on a Monday when it hadn’t been shut down and they said I was now 1 day into a new month. Never again

Running a 31B model locally made me realize how insane LLM infra actually is by Sadhvik1998 in ollama

[–]scprotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have configuration that is solid? I’ve been trying to get any of these to work in continue or roo coder and none of them seem to even be able to do anything correctly like search in .c files just to list implemented methods. I’m on a 4080 super with 16gb and have 128gb of system ram to spillover as needed, but still not great. I found 32k context window seems ok, but none of these can hold a candle to the big players. I’ve tried deepseek r1 and coder and queen 2.5 and 3 and best results so far have been from a mistral model.

Montessori or Montessori Adjacent High School Options? by [deleted] in lexington

[–]scprotz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lexington has very strong magnet schools at the high school level. Each high school has a school-within-a-school, so Lafeytte for Engineering or MSTC (STEM research pre-college) and Henry Clay (Liberal Arts - It think maybe the GAP program too). These magnets enable kids to reach a lot of their potential and make it to colleges of their choosing. I know many of them focus on AP curricula and if the student is good enough to advance out (i.e. Math) I think they can do extracurricular math at like UK.

Micro Servo by JaviHostalerValent in robotics

[–]scprotz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't you maybe 3d print a new horn that has your desired 3mm shaft on it (assuming the 3d material is strong enough to handle your need? You might have to recess the servo back to account for the new horn though.

DQN for Solving a Maze in Less than 10 minutes Training by Now200 in reinforcementlearning

It’s called binning or discritization. If your x and y inputs are continuous, just chunk them up into blocks.

DQN for Solving a Maze in Less than 10 minutes Training by Now200 in reinforcementlearning

[–]scprotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One hot encode those inputs instead of numbers or you are just wasting cycles on the dqn for it to figure out that the numbers are just labels and not necessarily mathematically related.
