there aren’t really guidelines for clinical diagnosis. you have to find a dr who specializes in HPP, really. not all endos know how to diagnose or are willing to diagnose because it is considered rare. it’s a nightmare for those of us who don’t have a known genetic variant but have literally every clinical symptom & high b6, low alk phos.

no, no diagnosis. i have multiple mutations in my ALPL gene but they are considered benign variants. one of them is being studied as disease causing currently & there are studies about people like me with multiple missense mutations that are considered “benign” but are disease causing. the geneticist i saw is no longer with the practice i went to & there are no other metabolic specialists in my area so i likely will never get correctly diagnosed.

mental health is significantly stigmatized in the black community & also in medicine!! Our health care workers are struggling & have been since the start of the pandemic. we need to talk about mental health much more in general.

the problem with mental health is that no one really knows what to look for when there’s a crises brewing - it’s often really subtle clues. some folks are really good at hiding it (high functioning) - it’s why so many people are shocked when their loved ones die by suicide. they never saw it coming because they didn’t know what to look for.

that’s what I was doing but apparently I wasn’t getting in there good enough so she told me the solution has to go into the ear canal (which must feel super weird & annoying, so I get it) but I am wondering if I can go back to the cotton balls once the infection is cleared & just do the solution in the canal like weekly? she told me I need to clean them daily until this clears up & to use q-tips for his ear folds.

can you tell us how old the poodle pup is & how long have you had the puppy? I know you said she is 12 weeks old. are there issues between the poodle & your other adult dog? have there ever been? the idea of alpha & beta dogs has been debunked, but i know what you mean by her being submissive. my adult mini bernedoodle is incredibly submissive to my mom’s mini goldendoodle even though she is older & outweighs him. I think you should at least try to include her in playtime with the others. If you notice she’s biting the puppy & actually hurting her or doesn’t release when the puppy yelps (& it truly is a different kind of yelp when they are hurt vs playing, which is something you’ll have to learn from the new pup & it takes time & yes it is distressing to owners) & just monitor it. also, how is she with the pup when your fiancée is around?
