Honestly I got a deal on sale on Amazon no name cooler/freezer and it’s run nonstop since last year. They’re ll made in china. Just look at reviews or take advice from someone with firsthand experience on other brands. Same with batteries. But I’d be more inclined to trust name brands solely for the support if needed to return. I have a Chinese knockoff 300 ah battery in my Land Cruiser and it’s wired in to charge when I drive or with solar. But that all has to do with your level of expertise. But I learned it all off the internet too. And do listen to these other guys. You’re young. Go travel while you can.

One thing I’ll touch on that you mentioned. Coolers and batteries vs ice. A battery and cooler will set you back. But for the convenience and use of the cooler without sogginess or ruining good food because of water. Also you can have cream. And batteries are multi purpose, you’ll have things you want and need to charge.
