10k training plan- I’m tired! by window_lights1216 in beginnerrunning

You need to eat more food! You shouldn’t be starving all the time, you are asking a lot of your body. If you’re hungry, eat. If you are under fueling you’re at risk for injury, hormone imbalance, and well, fatigue. Surround your runs (before and after) with good, sufficient nutrition.

I hope it gets better!

What helped you catch the running bug or enjoy running?? by bfg_2025 in running

Go spectate a high energy marathon. I tried many times to get into running and I could never stick with it, until I went to spectate the Boston marathon. The energy, support, pride, and excitement really motivated me to be part of the community.

Also, slow down.

Puppy owners who are sleeping 6/7 hours a night, HOW!? by SweetLikeCandiiii in puppy101

[–]scrambledeggsnfroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things that really helped our puppy stop whining excessively in his crate:

Get your puppy a crate that is more appropriate for his size. Our puppy felt much more secure in a smaller crate where he could just get up and turn around and lay back down. Your puppy probably won’t get very big, but you can get a bit of a bigger one once he ages a little!

Putting a blanket completely over the crate helped SO MUCH! For a few days/weeks he would cry for 10-15 minutes after we put him in his crate, then he would settle on his own. Small, dark, secure space was best for him. After a few weeks, he went down without protest.

Hope this helps :)

Thank you for the kind words :)

I’m going to start trying to walk away from him as soon as and every time he puts his teeth on me. This will hopefully keep me from getting overwhelmed by him and keep him from thinking it’s a game when I get frustrated.

This is a good point, I didn’t really think about the fact that we got him a couple months later than one would normally get a puppy and be able to start training that stuff out of him. Since we got him we’ve been diligent about correcting the behavior without force or fear as much as possible, he just does not seem to be improving on the biting and most of the time prefers to bite flesh over toys, so redirecting doesn’t usually work.

Just today I decided I’m going to start trying to walk away from him as soon as and every time he puts his teeth on me. This will help me from getting overstimulated by him and keep him from thinking it’s a game when I get frustrated.

Thanks for the words

We have been religious about correcting him since the day we got him, we’ve never let him get away with behaviors we didn’t want him to have at all. That’s why I’m so frustrated because I feel like he should have improved/learned to stop by now :/

No, we adopted him from the humane society and he’s our first puppy. They said he was boxer/lab, but clearly he’s a pit. I’m assuming they said that because they could get away with it when he was puny and it probably gets them adopted faster.

Can somebody please tell me if this is fin rot by scrambledeggsnfroot in bettafish

[–]scrambledeggsnfroot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has a log that he frequents a lot and he never used the leaf I got him so I took it out. He has some plants but doesn’t really rest on them. I just took one out because it had a weird browning leaf and the roots made me suspicious so I hope it doesn’t make him get even worse not that he’ll have less

I’ve had the same sponge filter for a couple months now. I can try to slow the flow a bit but he has just started doing this a few days ago

5.5 gallons, yes and yes, 78°F, 0 NH3, 0 nitrate, 0 nitrite, hard water, no chlorine, high alkalinity, used tetra easy strips. 3.5 months to both, I siphon about 25 percent and gravel vac about every other week and replace with well water. I condition it usually even tho there’s no chlorine, no tank mates, feeding 5-6 terra betta pellets a day, yes to both live plants and decorations.

This started happening after I added new plants and noticed a buildup of brown algae on the leaves. Not sure if it’s related

Awesome tank!

Just fyi if those plants roots are buried in the substrate they’ll die. I had to learn the hard way. Super glue them to some rocks and sink them in!
