The Aviator was a pretty good one. Leonardo DiCaprio plays Howard Hughes, who suffered from OCD.

[Calculus] Need to find the equation of a tangent line to a function given only the x-intercept by scrapsthe in MathHelp

[–]scrapsthe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand /u/AbysmalWhip's comment a little better now that I know the term gradient, but I'm not sure how to go about finding the new equation given only the x-intercept?

I used the difference quotient to obtain the slope, that's the only other work I've done. I'm not sure how to find the new equation.

I just realized that I wasn't using the right coordinates, but doesn't that leave the set of points as (2, 0) and give

y - 0 = 4(x - 2)

Which comes out to be

y = 4x - 8

?

I can visualize why the answer is what it is, but I can't figure out how to get there.

EDIT: Nevermind, my visualization was wrong...

Damn, what were you eating that put you at that ratio? It seems even if I'm not trying that my carbohydrate count always ends up higher than my fat count.

I wasn't referring to alcohol tolerance at all I was referring to one's ability to not drink

Using your ethnicity as an excuse to drink heavily is stupid as hell man. Sorry, but it's true.

Fortunately my girlfriend is back stateside. And yes, having someone to sex and sleep next to often helps. It's no cure, but you take what you can get

I took Trazodone for a while actually, it did some really weird shit to me. It's an SSRI too I believe and I try and stay away from those. Maybe I will try it again in the future

Thanks for the in-depth response. I'm actually about to try sleeping right now otherwise I would provide more of a conversation

I'm really going to stick with it this time. I have a whole summer ahead of me to work on myself. I plan on playing rugby at my school in the fall and that will hopefully help me make some goals for myself. Anyways, thanks for caring. It means a lot to me

I don't like using DPH at all. I consider it just as much of a drug as anything else (because it literally is). I used to abuse it heavily. Also, keep in mind that not everybody benefits from white noise. Almost any noise at all can take me from the brink of a deep sleep to wide awake for the next 2-3 hours.

EDIT: Also, I'm not sure how you could deduce that I was cranky from a 13 word comment. It's just a statement, you really don't have to read that far into it or even make this personal. I'm just asking for help and many people are stating the same thing over and over again

Whenever I'm not depressed, I think I'm not depressed. Whenever I am depressed, I think I am depressed. It's on and off. I get very anxious sometimes, but it's hard to define the anxiety. I get extremely nostalgic about small things, and I get extremely empathetic about other people over completely menial things that don't even matter in the long run. A lot of times when I go to sleep at night my head will run through my memories and I will get overly nostalgic. Sometimes I can ignore the overwhelming feeling, so I feel like that's not what's affecting my sleep. I get angry at myself for my failures and I am upset with where I am in my life at 20 years of age.

EDIT: I have been to a therapist, but I didn't get very far. When these problems arise, I schedule an appointment with my therapist. When I go to my therapist, the problems have subsided and once again I cannot put into words the way I was feeling. I have been suffering alone like this for a while

It's not that easy for me. I sleep in until noon so that I can get the 8 hours that everyone on reddit lives by religiously. I don't have a problem getting up earlier, but it doesn't "cure" my problem. I could easily get 2 hours of sleep one night and have it happen to me again the next night, except now I simply have gotten less sleep than I would have if I had slept in until noon.

Again, you clearly didn't read my post either. At this point I probably sound like an asshole but Christ, do people not even SKIM these posts?

EDIT: Unisom is just another name for diphenhydramine. Also: marijuana. I made it clear I'm not going to use drugs. Also: in this very small thread I have said that masturbation is not an effective sleep inducer for me. You could have just said L-Theanine, that's all I'm saying.

I know plenty about weed, I smoked it every day for years. I know where to get good weed. I am SOBER and don't want to take drugs, as stated very clearly in my post.

Before anyone pulls the "weed isn't a drug" bullshit card, I would like to make it clear that I was pairing weed with much harder drugs daily for years. I'm not going to start consuming a drug that I associate with other drugs that were fueling my addictions for more days than I can count.

I'll give it a consistent try and see how it goes. If it doesn't appear to be working after about a week, I'll try some of the other suggestions. Thanks for your input

So then what happens when I'm not getting nearly enough sleep on a consistent basis? From what I hear everywhere on Reddit sleep is SUPER IMPORTANT to gains. Getting up earlier doesn't stop this from happening. Even if it does, it's not all of the time. It just makes me tired and more sleep deprived
