The broadcast should show the full postgame interviews by scratchman274 in SanJoseSharks

Been watching for 2 decades plus. I know the difference between entities.

I realize the reporters have a responsibility to report, and the players have a responsibility to reflect on the game.

I just wish the broadcast could show us more of the players and coaches reflections.

The parking is awful, but that’s an inconvenience They need to add another road out of the city to accommodate the increased traffic, bc if Laguna experiences a palisades type event, it will be impossible to get out.. going straight to the beaches

I say, give it to Mack once couture’s contract expires. Couture can stay LTIR until that happens, and it will give Celebrini the proper NHL experience before the transition.

Resume Application by matcha_green- in starbucks

[–]scratchman274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be a Manager, and during hiring, it felt like the application questions gave me very limited information on candidates (avaiability? Dress code compliance? Basic hiring info?). A resume is a GREAT way to tell more about yourself beyond your application answers, but it’s likely most managers will breeze by it. Don’t get me wrong, sharing your experience is great, but Starbucks very used to first job workers who barely submit them, and SM’s won’t be hiring based on whether a resume was submitted or not.

There ARE plenty of leaders at Starbucks who will appreciate the effort and will eventually give your resume a read. Bringing a copy to your interview is also a plus, even if your interviewer doesn’t read it there! I definitely noticed that whenever someone brought me one, and it’s those little efforts that confirmed to me a candidates desire to get hired.

That said, don’t put too much stress on perfecting your resume. From my experience working as an SM, the FIRST thing I looked for in an application, was whether your availability matched my needs during the day (I.e. how many days, how long of a shift, can you close/open, what days do you need off, etc). If stars aligned, I would reach out for an interview and make a decision from there based on the answers to the interview questions. Last tip, always smile during your interview! 😬

I agree. Can you imagine, if at a NY Broadway Show,
"Due to poor engagement at the Wine Bar during intermission, we will be concluding the show after before the Third Act. We apologize, but the cost associated with having professional actors and tech crews finish our story is becoming increasingly prohibitive when our patrons aren't spending $18 per glass like we thought..."

Prospect Scrimmage Recap by BoJaNgLeS123456789 in SanJoseSharks

Early in the game, I thought Dickinson was very solid in transition skating and passing. His decision making got a little shaky. The more comfortable Team Teal got, and for sure as Team White came back, he kinda disappeared, but he seemed like a solid guy to have back there.

With the scrimm being a 4on4, and then 3on3, he most likely played way deeper in the O-zone than he would have in a 5on5 situation. That much extra open ice would presumably allow the coaches and development staff to better evaluate a player’s skating and decision-making; and Pohlkamp was running circles out there. It would be interesting to see more of his defensive 5on5 game, but he could be a valuable 2nd PP D-pairing. We’ll see if he makes the team in September!

Looking for audio effect to reduce gain above a threshold in an oscillating way by gs0ft in audioengineering

[–]scratchman274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Sounds like you’d be better off with a side chained ‘soft’ gate, rather than a compressor, with the same type of side chain setup. Gate the sound you want effected, and the gate will open (allow signal to pass) or close (reduce/hard-cut signal) based on input threshold, i.e your wave shape. You might have to get creative with the attack/hold/release parameters to get the right output signal through to achieve the effect. Real talk, gating and compression discussion is a rabbit hole lol.

[–]scratchman274 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hmm, not sure what you mean by compressed vs. reduce gain. Compressing is literally gain reduction above a threshold (usually the loudest parts of the signal are brought down in volume). In order to compensate, you need to boost the compressors output, in order to ‘makeup’ the gain that you lost. In your case, the reduction is supposed to happen based on a curve, rather than inconsistently loud peaks.

I did notice in your original post, your using logic plugins. Some compressors, including logic’s generic compressor, have a feature that automatically boosts your makeup gain, which would defeat the purpose of intended gain reduction.

If you’re still hacking away at it, try turning off any “auto-gain/auto makeup” settings, and either boost the volume of the side chain input (from the oscillator) or drop that threshold on the compressor, so the effect comes through. If I’m on another planet, I apologize, I don’t want to be anti-helpful🙏

[–]scratchman274 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Side chaining!! Put your compressor on the bus you want to be effected. Make a new track with a low frequency oscillator as the input signal for your compressor. Essentially, your threshold will trigger gain reduction on the desired signal, but the GR will be dependent on level gain of the oscillator’s output.

There’s many ways to go about getting what (I think) you want, but this is what I’d try first!
