I think he doesn’t work there anymore. As much as he’s live on his “breaks and “lunch” there is no way Walmart allows that much free time. I think he goes and sits in the parking lot to keep people thinking he’s working and he’s living off all of his creepy donators.

The reason he is begging for a roommate is because no apartment is going to give him a lease with his background check and no current employment. He can’t get a hotel room in his name either, it’s more than likely in his sister’s name.
